Getting ready

So I would like some ideas on what I can get my bridesmaids to wear when we are getting our hair and makeup done. And where a good place is to get them?

I got my girls silky robes from Etsy. Robes are pretty popular as are long flannel nightshirts for rustic and/or winter weddings. Also pajama rompers and matching pajama sets also work.

Consider that a lot of people do not like to pose half dressed ( like short robes, rompers, just a shirt) in pictures they know will end up on the web. Ask your ladies their preferences. Also, instead of buying anything, if your ladies have things that fit them, that they like and are comfortable in, have them wear those. I have been in a number of weddings where a bride wanted a little uniformity, where when asked, ladies all said they had striped shirts, or Hawaiian shirts, or jewel color button downs. And leggings or bike shorts, or capris. No extra expense, and an absence of complaints over bride's choices that did not fit this one, too bare for another one, disliked and would not wear. Traditionally, brides choose a dress for the ceremony. But not clothes for anything else. And a lot of women get ticked off each time a bride or other WP member suggests picking one thing for everyone. A lot depends on age, experience, and individuality of the specific people. So 10 bridal parties may be absolutely fine with something that will start WW3 in 2 others. Which means what is important is what your people want. Getting ready together, and pro makeup and hair, are both fairly recent things, and lots of people will accept them in a venue hotel. But others expect to take care of themselves, and arrive ready. Which is their choice, not bride's. This is most typical still for mostly local weddings, in many areas.

I got robes for everyone including my mother, grandma and FMIL. My bridesmaids are my two best friends, my sister and my fiancé’s two sisters. So it’s basically all family. The robes are more forgiving and less expensive than getting a pajama set where you would need to get two pieces for everyone and know their top and bottom sizes. The robes just made sense because they can wear whatever makes them comfortable underneath and even if they’re a little big you really can’t notice so it was less stressful for me to pick sizes for everyone. I got mine from the knot shop and the material is soooo nice and soft! They don’t wrinkle easy which is a problem I’ve seen with a lot of other robes and they’re longer on the leg. Getting ready 2

I also got robes for my 5 bridesmaids, maid of honor, and myself. I couldn't rationalize spending a ton on money on them, so I shopped around and found some cute ones on eBay for a decent price. The only trick is, you can only order one of each color, so I got an assortment of colors so they can each pick what color they want. I ordered colors all in my color scheme, so the robes actually look cute together!

I was in a bridal party where she got us all customized tumbler cups with lids and straws to drink mimosas from while we got ready. It was so much cooler than a robe because we used them during the cocktail hour and reception to keep our drinks cold. Plus it doubles as a gift!

Just a heads up, if you and your party are getting ready several hours before the ceremony, don’t forget to have food/snacks available or you will all be starving until reception. Unfortunately this happened when I was bridesmaid and we wish we had snacks to get us through the morning.Getting ready 4

Getting ready 5I got these robes for my bridesmaids - theirs are dusty blue and mine is white. Great quality and super cheap from AliExpress, but it took ages to deliver. I’ll let them wear whatever they want until the robe - leggings shorts etc to feel comfortable for pictures. I’m considering making a cute “day of” care basket thing to give them too!
