getting ready

Alexis, on January 13, 2020 at 7:23 AM Posted in Planning 1 20
REALLY want a unique getting ready outfit for the bride/bridesmaids. I’m so sick of seeing floral robes and flannels OVER AND OVER. Any fun ideas?

You can also just let them dress in whatever and let the pictures show off their personalities- that’s what we are doing!

Great options suggested! Whatever you decide, just make sure that it is something that is a button up, zipper, or tied. You don’t want to be trying to pull your shirt over your head after your makeup and hair is done!

I'm doing oversized denim shirts. I'm personalizing the back of each one with our favorite musicals and broadway shows

We will be wearing matching PJ's (blush or navy) that we are also using bachlorette weekend also. MOH and I discussed utilizing these items more than once for practicality. They will have our first name or monogram on the front. Super simple and cute.

I agree that the floral robes are overdone. But actually the idea of any matching getting ready outfits is a little played out in general. An idea is that they can wear whatever they choose, which keeps it from looking so “staged”... because getting ready should be casual, relaxed and fun. Especially since they already have to wear matching outfits all night for the wedding.

Not super fun, but different I guess? I gave them a choice between short cotton waffle robe, long PJ shirt, or short strapless romper. All were black with white initials. They seemed happier they got to pick an outfit they would feel best in!getting ready 10

I like the coffee and pizza shirts pictured above 😂 And I feel the same!! It's so overdone... Honestly I don't think anybody NEEDS matching stuff with their bridal party, they just need to be sure it can be removed without messing up hair and makeup. Letting your bridesmaids wear what they want will be more unique. Matching in general is extremely overdone... Unless they're shirts about pizza or coffee. 😂

I like the coffee shirts too, and now I'm thinking about something like that for my girls. Do you think a wife-beater style shirt like that would be too hard to remove after hair and makeup is done?

I think if they're oversized it would be OK. Otherwise tshirts that are cut at the top. 😊

I definitely agree with this. As a bridal party member, I have never enjoyed the staged photos that happen while everyone is getting ready. As a bride, I skipped them. There's enough posing to be done for the whole rest of the day.

Exactly! Whenever I see things like matching bachelorette shirts or matching robes, my mind automatically thinks of the Minions from Despicable Me. 😬

I got us all shirts that say 'Pop the Bubbly' in blush pink with sparkly letters, since that's part of my color scheme, and long, super soft (like the softest material I've ever felt in my life) pajama pants in another shade of pink. I also got us all sparkly warm slippers to keep our feet warm. We're not doing photos - I just thought we'd be cute together. And they'll double as pajamas for around the house, and the shirt is high quality so they can wear it again for New Year's, Valentine's Day, Birthdays, etc.

I only have a Man of Honor, so I didn't really want to do the floral robes!

Instead I purchased blue Star Wars unisex onesies from MeUndies. My wedding is Star Wars themed, so it's very appropriate! They do cost quite a bit $79 apiece, but I got them with a 30% discount, plus there's only 2 of us.

I love that idea, I wish it was more affordable for a bigger group. Also, MeUndies are great, I'm wearing a pair right now!
