Getting ready wear... Robes? Shirts?

Aubrey, on November 20, 2016 at 10:12 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

Hi All! I decided I want to gift my bridesmaids with something to wear the morning of while we're getting ready! I want to do something with a monogram on it for each of them to feel special. I'm looking for feedback on what you guys think.

Do/did you guys like robes? and what style- silk or waffle? Or maybe just button up shirts with their initials on them? What are your thoughts?

I'm doing matching button up pajamas. I feel like robes are a waste.

Waffle or button ups, and if you're going to personalize, use their first names or monogram (not MOH, bridesmaid, etc). Silk robes aren't warm and can be scratchy.

My thoughts are to skip robes/shirts completely. 99% of the time these are for a photo op. I let my girls get ready in what they were comfortable in. We have some great pics, and I don't regret everyone not matching.

I skipped this entirely. My BM just wore comfy clothes to get their hair and makeup done. We didn't take any "getting ready" pictures with the photographer

    Thanks guys!

These would not be the gifts I gave my BP, just something extra. Appreciate your feedback!

I would not re-wear a button-up shirt. Robes would be my pick! Full disclosure, that's what I picked for my BM too. You could also do tank tops. (No one actually wears *just* the robes, btw). I think it's nice to have a cohesive look for getting ready. I agree that you should use their names or monograms, not their title (like "bridesmaid"). Also, they should not be considered part of their gift because it's for your photo-ops!

I personally wouldn't monogram...I find they don't get worn a ton. I did robes w/o any text. The girls seemed to like them, I wear mine around the house a lot! I've heard on here that waffle robes are more practical than the silky ones. Looking back I kinda wish I had done pj's or a romper...every girl wears jammies!

As long as it's not the short polyester robes you see a lot, I would be fine with cotton, terry,,waffle weave, pjs, whatever. I hate monograms but as long as it doesn't say "Bridesmaid" on it then no real objection.

I would do robes but not satin ones! They aren't comfy or warm, and will rarely be used agajn

I like the idea is zip ups or off the shoulder sweats. I also love the pjs sets but need to find a good deal!

I got $3 tank tops at Walmart and made pockets out of some cute fabric with the wedding colors. I feel like they'll actually wear them again (I've worn mine since). Mine was white, the BMs were gray.

I'm doing waffle knit robes. I only had my robe embroidered with my future monogram. The rest of the bridal party I am not. I got one silk robe from AliExpress and hated it. I personally would not wear a monogrammed button up again or pajamas. I think zip up hoodies are cute too (as long as it's not a summer wedding).

I wouldn't rewear a button up shirt either. I would go robe.

I am doing silk robes with no personalization. I feel like they will be more likely to be reworn that way
