Getting ready time frame

Alexandra, on December 17, 2021 at 8:28 PM Posted in Planning 0 5
Even though the wedding is not until 2023, I am trying to fiqure out how long it takes to get ready for the photographer and videographer's time before the wedding. Therefore, how long does it usually take to get ready before the cermony for the groom and bride? The venue already has groom and bride suites.

It depends. Do you have attendants (bridesmaids and groomsmen)? Will you have parents in the rooms getting ready with you? Do you have professional hair and makeup people coming?

We started with hair (at the salon) half at 9 am and half at 10 am (I was at 9 and not done until nearly 10:30) and the makeup artist met us at the venue at 11:00, and started with the BMs. H and the GM showed up about noon. Our photographer was there about 2 and the wedding was at 6.

We had - me, 3 BMs, 2 moms and H, 3 GM, 1 jr GM, 1 dad (my dad passed before the wedding).

Having said that, I wasn't looking for the "getting ready" pictures (I didn't need any of me getting my makeup on, for example) and we wanted things to be pretty relaxed and comfortable for everyone, including our vendors.

Well, they got to the venue about 12/12:30 and they were doing photos by 4ish (I only know because our DOC and photographer were making sure we didn't run into each other), but I don't know how much of that time was just hanging out versus actually getting ready, if that makes sense.

It depends on so many factors. Most vendors finalize that detail closer to the wedding day. Your photographer makes timelines for a living as part of their job. So they would be the one to ask. Hairstylist and makeup artists do the same as part of their job because they need to know how many people to bring to work. It largely depends on how many people will be getting ready with you. Just you and one bridesmaid can be done fairly quickly unless your dress is difficult to get into and fasten. 10+ bridesmaids as is the current trend will take a few hours.

It depends on how many wedding party members you have. For myself, our bridal party, my mom, & MIL (8 total), it took around 5.5 hours for hair and makeup.
