Getting ready robes?

Alyssa, on February 22, 2022 at 10:22 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 17

Hey ya'll,

Looking for some ideas! I love the idea of the matching robes for getting ready for the bridal party. I was in three weddings this past year and they really came in handy in terms of not having to worry about a shirt that wouldn't ruin hair/make up. They're also super cute for pictures and all that. HOWEVER, I don't like the actual robes. They're great for the one day but then who honestly wears them after that... I've looked at pajama sets and the flannels but all I'm finding are expensive. Does anyone have any similar ideas that won't break the bank and aren't robes?

Thank you!

You could do zip up hoodies! Here's an example photo from an Etsy shop:

Im getting my girls big comfy flannels since it will be presumably cold when we have our wedding. I looked on amazon and etsy and found lots of options around $20 a piece.

I feel the same way. I’m getting robes for the day of and then getting pajamas for the bachelorette weekend.

    Hey,
I agree they make it so much easier, but those shorty little robes I never wore except for the day. I looked at shirts like button downs with them and myself wearing black pants, I could go with yoga pants and be happy 😊. Also looked at longer robes on Amazon that looked fun. However since it's a winter wedding PJs and shirts on Etsy is the way I leaning towards.
Have you found anything you may be considering?

I'm getting my girls zip up hoodies like Lisa posted, my girls range in size (from size small to size 3XL) so to make sure they're all comfy, I wanted something simple that they could wear what they wanted underneath, tshirt, tank, leggings, etc. Plus, I'm just getting their first inital embroidered so hopefully it ends up being something they'd wear again

Robes are not comfortable for everyone. They’re often flimsy and super short so they don’t cover much. Old Navy and Target have inexpensive button up flannel tops (check the clearance too) that are very comfy and will not mess up hair/makeup when taken off. They can be paired with leggings your ladies already own.

I ordered pajama sets from Shein! The sets were perfect because they can wear again as separates (the two non-patterned came with pants, the tank top and a cardigan). My girls loved them! Didn’t choose to get them monogrammed or actually matching with each other so that they each have a set that I thought they personally would love.

I made these shirts to wear in September for my wedding ! I got these shirts for $5 each at Target and used my Cricut to cut out iron on vinyl and then ironed it to the shirt! 🤗 I was not spending a crap ton on robes!

I love hoodies! I would've never thought of this, but I love it so much Lisa Smiley heart

I actually came to the thread because I was curious about the answers - just another detail I never considered until I found a thread for it, lol

Thank you for asking the question Alyssa!

I am doing button ups. I wanted something that they didn’t have to take off over their head and, like you, have found that I never used a robe again.

I'm getting everyone some PJs from Old Navy or Target so we know the sizing won't be weird! Target has really cute button up PJs in long sleeve or short sleeves (that also come in plus size!) so I'm waiting for them to settle on some seasonal colors for haha. I was going to do robes or PJs through Birdy Grey so I could let each friend pick the style she wanted and know they'd be the same color, but they don't accept returns and I was worried about the sizing options 🤷🏼‍♀️ We did flannels for my friend's wedding I was in and we wore leggings with them and it was great! My friend got all her girls robes from Target so they were a little longer and were a quality you'd be more likely to use again.

Birdy Grey or Etsy has both robes and pajamas $20-40 bucks, depending on how many you need and if you customize them or not.

Never tried the pjs from Old Navy though the rest of their clothes are awesome and true to size. Target has a great selection at cheap prices.

If you go with robes, they need to be longer than covering the butt only (or barely). But that can easily get easily get cost prohibitive.

I did black hoodies and ironed on patches Smiley smile Forgot to take pics the day of when we also had black leggings. Here are pics from that weekend when we were chillaxing after the festivities!
