Getting Ready Robe

Emily, on April 11, 2023 at 10:59 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

Hi! Are you supposed to actually wear your getting ready robe as you head to the venue- or did you change into it there? I purchased a white robe from etsy and wondering what to wear underneath so as not to show through but also not feel exposed for "getting ready" photos. What did you all do for your wedding? Thanks in advance.

The getting ready robe should be worn wherever you are getting ready. If you are not getting ready at the venue you would change before you leave and wear your dress to the venue.

You can wear anything you're comfortable with underneath. Shorts or leggings, and a t-shirt or tank top.

Hi Emily! I also purchased a white robe from Etsy that was a little to see through. To fix the problem I bought a cheap white little pajama cami & shorts set from SHEIN to wear underneath. It worked perfectly! Also, I think it’s fine to wear regular clothes to the venue and then change into the robe if you want. Just be mindful of bra strap marks if your dress is strapless Smiley smile

I only wore mine while getting hair and makeup done. I did not want to wait to change at our ceremony venue because I didn’t want to feel rushed and stressed out, and also we decided to have a First Look so I needed to be in the dress before then anyway. At first I bought a white silk robe from Etsy, but the more I thought about it, the more I foresaw me sweating in that silk 😣. I ended up purchasing a cotton jersey while lace robe, PJ bottoms, and a button PJ top from David’s Bridal online. It was so soft and comfortable and I didn’t sweat a lot in it! 😃

If you are doing hair or makeup before your arrival, I'd wear a button down top or dress. If you are doing everything at the venue it really doesn't matter what you wear on the way over. I'd change into the robe and whatever undergarments you're wearing once you get there.

If the robe is sheer, either wear a button down pj top underneath, ,get a new robe or forget the robe and just come in a top or dress that can come off without messing up hair and makeup. If not, I'd just wear whatever undergarments you'll be wearing.

We got ready at the hotel we had stayed at the night before, I wasn’t really driving there in my robe. My MIL booked one of their conference rooms for me and my ladies and then another for her son and the guys.

I purchased mine and my girls robes a couple weeks ago. I'm doing a little gift box for each of them that will include their robe and a few other small stuff to show my appreciation and will give it to them at the rehearsal dinner.

And we will be using the big confrence room at the venue to get ready. We are getting married at the local Shrine Club. And after the wedding we are returning our refundable deposit back over to the Shrine Club as a donation. Because they do a lot for the children in the area and for all the cancer patients at St. Jude.

I received the robes yesterday that I ordered for my girls, come to find out that one of them they sent the wrong robe. Supposed to have said " MAID OF HONOR" but they sent "MATRON OF HONOR" wasn't happy even thou the robe was pretty. So I done a full refund request and just reordered the robe and hopefully they can get it right this time. We shall see.
