Getting Ready Robe. Satin or Waffle/Terry Cloth?

Private User, on April 7, 2015 at 1:12 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

Hello-

I just recently read a post that satin robes are better for wedding day prep purposes if you or your bridal party plan on wearing your hair down. The reason given was because your hair will stick to the material and possibly frizz. Has anyone heard of this or experienced this? I think waffle or terry cloth robes are more useful long-term and more comfortable, but I don't hair malfunctions!

Satin is over rated next to terry cloth.

Satin robes can be pretty static-y when they come home from the store so I'm not sure about that, but I would be more likely to use it again if it was waffle or terry cloth.

I was given a terrycloth one when I was MOH in a wedding. I still use it every day and I don't have any issues with it re: hair sticking.

I don't know about hair issues. But I will pass on this advice from my makeup artist. I had my trial yesterday and she told me she always recommends that brides wear something under their robe or button down shirt. She does airbrushed makeup and does the neck and chest too. She says many brides have only the robe on and have to take it off to get sprayed. She recommends a tank top or tube top.

I am choosing waffle because it will be a gift for myself and my bridesmaids and I feel like they will use the waffle over the satin

While I'm sure satin would be better for hair styling purposes, I think it might make some ladies uncomfortable. Satin tends to be clingy and revealing. If they are getting ready and hanging out with other people wearing just a satin robe, I can imagine some of them might feel uncomfortable.

Thanks Natalie. I am not getting airbrushed and was actually told that if I plan on crying (which I do) not to get airbrushing done because it streaks and can't be easily touched up. I will be wearing my undergarments at the time so that addresses that concern. I just don't want to deal with anything that has to be lifted over my head after I get my hair/makeup done.

All - Really appreciate the input. Will opt for terry or waffle.

I don't think it will mess up your hair! I would just wear whatever you will be most comfortable in Smiley smile
