Getting Ready Outfits…

Rachel, on August 10, 2023 at 3:52 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6
I am trying to prep my “Bridesmaid Proposal” Box. I want to include with a robe or a button down shirt for a getting ready outfit, but I am going back and forth? I love robes (wear them all the time at home) but I worry it could mess up our hair. Button downs I am concerned everyone will feel comfortable in them getting ready.

Thoughts! Really appreciate it!

My personal opinion is if you have to ask others to hold onto something until the wedding day, it's best to give it day of. That way there are no "Oops I completely forgot" they are less likely to be ruined, and you can gauge interest from your bridesmaids on comfort level to help you decide what you want for getting ready photos

Either are good choices for getting ready. If you go button down route, I suggest a solid color legging.

I think both of these are great options, and neither would ruin your hair or make up (that’s actually the entire purpose of them). Assuming you wouldn’t mind if the girls wore leggings underneath, I don’t think people would feel uncomfortable in either option, as they both provide plenty of coverage and are not tight/clingy. Will you be ordering them in your wedding colors? Will you be monogramming them with their initials?

I was thinking monogramming with their initials on the shirts but not the robes. I don’t want to put bridesmaid on them, but also like them clean and simple as some of them are engaged and may be changing their name soon too. I was thinking in white mostly with maybe black piping (wedding colors are white, green and black). Do you agree Janet I should give these later? (These wouldn’t be their “gift” though. Also yes totally fine with leggings!

I think bridesmaid proposal boxes are the perfect time to gift anything related to the wedding (ie, getting ready robes/PJs, slippers, jewelry to wear for the wedding, etc.), since they are just cute “extras” (not their official gift for being in the wedding). Plus they set the mood for the fun that’s to come! I also included a champagne flute tumbler, a little mini bottle of champagne, one of those big silly candy rings, and a DVD of the movie Bridesmaids in my proposal boxes, and everyone loved them!

I agree with Janet that I would wait until closer to the wedding. If you give them too far in advance, I would also worry about them misplacing them or forgetting them that day of the wedding.

I’m giving my bridesmaids their getting ready stuff when they get to the getting ready suite. I got cute little totes to put it all in and plan on having them set out when they arrive. But it totally depends on how responsible your girls are. I just didn’t want them to have to remember another thing to bring to the wedding (it’s a few hours drive away, so not a simple return home just to go grab a robe).
