Getting my engagement photos taken tomorrow and I'm super nervous

Ms2Mrs, on August 26, 2015 at 10:21 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

Guys I'm like beyond nervous, our engagement photos are tomorrow. We have four locations and four outfit changes, I've never had professional photos taken of me and I don't like being the center of attention. Hope you guys can offer some advice as to what I should bring with me or anything else you thought helped you. Even this post has calmed me down a bit. Here is the nail design I got done for tomorrow

Just relax and pretend the photographer isn't there. The ones I like the best of us are the ones where you can tell we are relaxed. Good Luck!

Thank you @FFW, and @Elise thanks for that tip. It's going to be hard to pretend like no one is there but I will try my darndest.

Don't be nervous. It's a little awkward but it's fun and goes by so quickly. Just enjoy being able to capture this special time in your life Smiley smile

Do you have time to grab a glass of wine before you meet your photographer? White whine. So your teeth don't turn purple. That helped my jitters a TON! Smiley smile

I don't have my E pics done yet, however - I have the same nerves you do. Just try to relax, and pretend its just you and FH hanging out and having fun. Let your love and happiness for eachother show - and it will shine through in your pics. Good luck!

I do some photography on the side, so I know not everyone is comfortable in front of the camera and aren't used to a gazillion pictures of them. I agree with Elise though and just pretend the photographer isn't there. If they know what they're doing, they will have you doing natural things and just take pictures as you're doing those things such as walking together holding hands, or just cuddling. If you're not comfortable with kissing in public let your photographer know so they don't make you do a million kissing pictures. Make little jokes with each other to break the tension and those laughs you'll have with each other will make for really natural smiles. Also four outfits is a lot, if you're feeling tired and stressed, it's okay to say you're done and don't want to do any more. Just pretend it's just going on a date with your FH and you just are having a good time walking around.

Try not to stand face on to the camera and angle a little, keep your chin forward almost like you're doing a chicken motion (not back and forth...just put it forward). This will help so it doesn't give you a double chin look (even the skinniest of us can look awkward if we don't lift our chin). And sometimes if your faces are really close together and you feel weird about it because you can't even focus that close, it might look great in a photo. When you walk cross your legs a little more than normal, it looks great in pictures, very girly. These are things your photographer will probably mention but it might help you to have these things in mind.

Above all, be yourself, think about your wedding day to get an actual smile. Have fun! And don't give the Chandler smile (Friends reference).

I just had mine done on Sunday! I agree with the others- try your best to relax! FI and I just said silly things to each other to laugh during it! I'm with you, I've never had professional pictures done, i don't like being the center of attention, and I'm not photogenic, but I know I hired a great photographer and I'm sure you did too! Just trust your photographer, have fun with your FI, and if you can sneak in a glass of wine- do it!!

I am super nervous for mine next month, too! But I keep telling myself that my photographer knows what she is doing and will guide us along the way. I totally plan on having a beer before too! Good luck! Also take comfort in the fact that everyone on here that says they're nervous ends up having amazing e-photos! Smiley smile have fun!

You guys are all amazing, thank you all so much for your great support once again. I will take your tips and put them to use. FYI @Happyinhawaii loved that friends reference! And @sarahmarie thanks for the tip about white wine, I'm a red wine girl myself so I would have naturally had a glass of merlot. Thankfully you pointed out the no red wine thing .... thank you! Smiley smile

I've had a professional photoshoot when i was pregnant. And i was really nervous about it too! The photograhper brought her own props that i requested: i was in love with her white umbrella. I later purchased one myself. I had made a few request on what kind of photo's I wanted and looked up a lot of photoshoots on the internet to see what was possible, nice looking and all.

Shot of vodka! Our photographers gave us a ton of direction. They wanted us posed to get proper lighting and perspective. In my avatar we are actually leaning over the edge of the railing (terrifying). They had FH say stuff to get me to laugh. That kind of backfired though because he just started listing words I hate! He claims it was the "first thing that popped into his head!" So just try your best to laugh and have fun with it! That way your photographer can capture genuine emotion.

Oh I forgot to add something! Ask your photographer to take a look at some of the pictures on the camera while doing the shoot! Not after every single picture but maybe after you've done a few you can ask to look, that way if you don't like the way your outfit is in certain poses or if you notice an awkward hair sticking up you can fix it before you have taken 100 pictures like that. It's the digital age, so you have the luxury of looking and most photographers are fine with letting you see them. That might make you more comfortable and realize you're better at it than you thought!

Glad you liked the Friends reference!

My FH has the same smile as Chandler for the Friends Reference...I whispered naughty things to him to make him smile during the pictures. I finally got a few real smiles from him.
