Getting Married Young

Roccie, on April 22, 2026 at 3:17 PM Posted in Planning 0 1

My fiance and I are -20 and currently planning to wed in Dec 2028. I need honest opinions on what to do. This is my first time deep-diving into this. We've been engaged for a year now. I already have a photographer, but i need to figure out everything else. Help?

You can start with getting a sense of the budget you will have and the guest list. If you have family helping on budget, they may also make decisions about the wedding planning and guests. Next figure out your vision or expectation for the wedding. It may be a small informal gathering, a budget one, or a fancy style that all going into deciding what budget and guests you have.

Figure out what details are more important -- attire, venue, flowers, photography, and/or other details. Often a venue choice will be an early step since the venue would be the anchor date and location -- both a wedding ceremony and a reception (or one location) -- for who else you hire.

It should help to learn some of the contracts with these companies -- like cancelation and refund policies and their responsibility if they do not perform their duties. A good wedding planner should have these details addressed -- if you are able to have that help.
