Getting married on Sunday: Should i work until Friday?

Queen, on March 14, 2023 at 8:07 AM Posted in Planning 0 4
I’m getting married Sunday at 4pm. On Sat we have to get up early and drop our fur babies off for boarding on Sat morning. I have been working this week and plan on getting my nails/ eyebrows done on Friday morning. A shift for 3-11pm this Friday opened up, could always use the extra money

Would you work on Friday or take off?
Thank you 💕

I think this just depends on what all you have left to do, get ready, and how good your time management skills are. If you can and want to swing it, go for it! If you are hosting any family, will loose a significant amount of time for little details and putting things together, or know of any errands you need to make during that time, maybe not. This also depends on if your fiancé has time to take over while you are at work, close friends/family who may be able to help, etc. I can say from my personal experience, I took 3 days off work, and ideally needed 1.5. Some need a whole week.

I would look at what all there is left to do, make your schedule leaving some contingency for those tasks and go from there. If you can swing it, awesome!

I’d be a bit concerned with chipping my nails at work and the late night/early morning aspect of this plan. But mostly, it’s that there are always last minute things that come up and it’s the last weekday to deal with them. I’d personally take the day off but if you’ve got things under control or others to step in then it’s up to you.

I'd also be a little concerned about something happening to my nails if I had opted to work after I got them done. That being said, you would have time to get them touched up if something did happen. I think it pretty much boils down to what do you want more: time to dedicate to last minute wedding details or the added salary from working that shift?

Ok.. I'm a workaholic... I get considering working right up to it.. But I also am a big fan of avoiding undue stress.

If you have the pto to use, take it. Spread the last minute things out a bit so you can get to them without deadline stress and if you don't have any last minute things to do, take some time for yourself or for yourself and your fiance. Maybe love on the furbabies...

Use it as a time to reflect on yourself and all that is changing or be actively working on preparations. Either way, it's ok to take time off of work for you and for this time in your life. Work will be there when you get back from your honeymoon.
