Getting married on a holiday

Jo, on July 2, 2018 at 8:05 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 17

With the 4th of July just around the corner, I'm curious to know who is planning a holiday wedding.

Will you be getting married on a holiday? Which one? Have you always envisioned a wedding on this holiday, or was it a coincidence? Will you be incorporating the holiday into your theme or decor? Tell us all about it!

I am getting married labor day weekend 2019. Which is a sunday it gives my local guest time to prepare on Saturday because many of them work mon_fri and gives my ott guest the opportunity to travel on Monday if they have to be at work on tuesday. But my dream wedding holiday is christmas but I did not want to be selfish.

I’m getting married on Sunday (mother’s day). I was able to get a May date with a low minimum count of guests for having in on that day. Usually my venue has a 100pp minimum in May but gave me the date for 65 guest

We choose a long weekend to get married - Labor day. I wouldn't call it a holiday the same way I would one where people tend to have standing plans (4th of july, christmas, thanksgiving etc) but it is still technically a holiday just not a big one or one that people do specific things on (no more than going to the beach or having a BBQ anyway)

We had a good 75% OOT guests and with so many people traveling we wanted to make it easy for them. So sunday of labor day worked because 90% of people didn't have to take extra time off work, they had the day before and after to travel, and because labor day is right before, or right after most kids go back to school making it not a huge travel holiday the cost of traveling was not as expensive as pick another holiday weekend. It was worked out best for us

I don't think we celebrate it much here, but we are getting married on January 6, 2019 in Puerto Rico and that happens to be 3 kings day there. It's treated a lot like a second christmas. I didn't know this and FH just didn't think about it, but it is kinda cool.

Getting married on 5/12/19 - Mother’s Day! Never dreamed of getting married on a Sunday, but it was the only date the venue had left in Spring. We didn’t want early April (the Winery vibes would be brown and barren), or the middle of summer (it gets HOT in SoCal!). Finding vendors to work that date has been a small challenge, and we hope that a free dinner, open bar, and dancing will be a good gift to all the moms in attendance. We are debating on finding a babysitter for those with young kids so they don’t have to be at the venue, since there’s lakes and fire and might be hard to keep track of children. We’ll have lots of flowers though, so I guess that’s incorporating Mother’s Day decor?! 😊

We got married on the least popular and most overlooked holiday....Colombus Day was the following Monday. No biggie except it was an additional day, postal wise, to mail put license.

I have been to two weddings on Mother’s Day and a friend of my MOH had one on Father’s Day and it would be a hard pass from me. It is so stressful and throws off the “regular” plans. My mom happened to be at the ones on mother’s day so I at least got to see her but it is less convenient for others. Example: my SIL was at a wedding in her first Mother’s Day. Just seems kind of unfortunate to the guests.

We're getting married on November 12, 2018 which is the Monday of veterans day weekend and veterans day observed for jobs. It's a Monday and we couldn't be happier because it allowed us to habe our dream venue in our budget range! Just over 4 months to go!

We're getting married on November 11, 2018 but unfortunately I don't think our jobs observe it the following Monday. We chose the date specifically because of the 11:11 phenomenon. It just felt right.

Our ceremony is a few days before Halloween. Everyone assumed it would be a Halloween theme. We are having a DW so we aren't picking the decor or anything really lol. If we were doing it locally and doing the decor ourselves though it would definitely be Halloween themed!

I'm getting married New Years Eve this year! We're doing classic NYE colors, black white gold and some silver. Our first date was NYE 5 years ago so we're excited to keep our same anniversary date.
