Getting married in winter

Vanessa, on June 6, 2019 at 12:00 PM Posted in Planning 0 5
Hello all! Has anyone got married or is getting married in winter? My fiancé and I are living in Midwest. My biggest concern is of course getting cold and how to keep my dress from getting dirty going from one place to place. I would love to hear some stories of your weddings in winter and or what you are doing to be ready for it! Thanks ladies!

It would be cute if you wore boots to keep your feet warm! As for getting the dress dirty .. you can have someone hold it up for you but I think it's naturally going to get dirty with all you'll be doing and moving around in that day

I got married in December but it was in California where the temps were in the 60s. I wore a vintage stole for after the ceremony and purchased faux fur wraps for my girls to wear also. Everything was indoors except our cocktail hour and we had heat lamps, a fire pit and blankets for everyone.

I'm getting married in February but will be getting married in Alabama (so it could be cold or could be 70 degrees since the southeast is so unpredictable). Our wedding is inside, but I am wearing a strapless dress and want to take some pictures outside. I may get a cute cape or faux fur wrap to wear over my dress while we're outside.

Our getaway "car" is my FH's Harley Davidson motorcycle, but I'm going to change into a long sleeved jumpsuit so I'm not so cold (and because I couldn't wear a mermaid style dress on a motorcycle). I'm going to bustle my train during the reception to try to keep it from getting so dirty. My old roommate didn't have a bustle on her long train, and it was so dirty at the end of the night!

Getting married early this December and I’m so excited Smiley smile we’ll actually have a very short ceremony outside and have everyone go inside for hot beverages (there’s also a fireplace in the cocktail hour area!) My FH wants to do blankets as favors so I’m looking at where to find affordable ones! Me and my bridesmaids will all have handmade shawls from Etsy to keep us warm Smiley smile good luck and keep us posted on your winter wedding!

    Fellow winter Midwestern bride here!

All of our ceremony and reception will take place inside, but we will do outdoor photos. Talk to your photographer about concerns of getting your dress dirty, they're pros and should have some ideas on better places for photos to avoid trailing your dress through muck.

As for staying warm while you're outside, I'm doing a faux fur wrap (similar to what PP said), and I HIGHLY recommend some rechargeable handwarmers. Our photographer had some for our engagement shoot in February in WI and it was a game changer. https://www.amazon.com/TECHING-Pebbles-Double-Side-Rechargeable-5200mAh/dp/B018VOT29Q/ref=sr_1_6?gclid=CjwKCAjwlujnBRBlEiwAuWx4LbRdB7z9-o4EXJRvleMkv2m27maHZaKu8Vzj0oGZglvfth3ctwqGQxoChFwQAvD_BwE&hvadid=174251166396&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9018833&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=e&hvrand=7210318567479299306&hvtargid=aud-646675773986%3Akwd-3518385645&hydadcr=19106_9441139&keywords=usb+hand+warmers&qid=1559924990&s=gateway&sr=8-6
