Getting married in a public park??

LetTheGoodTimesRollison, on October 13, 2017 at 6:14 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

So my FH and I found the perfect venue at an incredible price. Except that it really only works for the reception. We found a great place nearby that could work for the ceremony, but it's a public park. We are allowed to use it, but we can't privately rent it or guarantee that no one would come trouncing along and ruin it all.

We're talking small town Texas (Marble Falls) so part of me wants to bank on people having manners. But maybe I'm over estimating people.

Thoughts?

I wouldn't. I can definitely see some asshole ruining it just to be funny. Plus it is such an intimate moment, I wouldn't want strangers gathering around.

I had the same dilemma. I decided it was worth a little extra money to find a different spot. I ended up finding the same atmosphere in a historic property. It probably costs the same amount and eliminates one possibility that something could ruin your day.

I wouldn't do it. Someone else could have the same thought/idea as you.

We do a lot of weddings in public parks, but there really is no guarantee of any privacy at all, including Central Park. Yes, you can get a permit, but it allow you to only inhabit the specific structure you rented.

I'd look for something else, depending how trafficked your park is. We have another one that almost never has more than four or five people and they are very respectful.
