Getting Married in 2 weeks annnnd.. I’m sick.

Andie , on September 21, 2019 at 7:24 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
I’m getting married in two weeks. I just got diagnosed with influenza, which can linger for up to a couple weeks. But what really has me upset, I have a long to-do list for the next two weeks, and I’m stuck in bed exhausted. This timing is really unfortunate. Wish me luck on getting through my list 😬. I just hope FH doesn’t catch it 🤞🏻

I’m sorry to hear you’re sick. Do whatever you can to rest and follow all of the doctors instructions so you can get better. Maybe ask your bridesmaids or family to jump in and help with your list. I’m sure if you’re sick people will want to help. Take anything off your list that isn’t a must. Good luck.

Don’t worry about most details, as long as there’s food/booze and you show up in some kind of wedding outfit, that’s all guests care about!

REST. It’s been to stay in bed 1-3 days then let this linger. My hubby got sick a few days before our wedding, would NOT rest, was cranky and spent almost entire mini-moon in bed! 🤦‍♀️

Hopefully you were able to get Tamiflu! It really is a miracle worker! I would start designating others if possible do help accomplish tasks so you can really rest and get better.

As above re: tamiflu!!! Of note it can also be prescribed for prophylaxis to your fiancé and other close family members to prevent them from catching the flu from you!!

(Standard internet disclaimer that you are not a patient in my care and I am not treating you but I recommend you speak with your own doctor.) Good luck and sorry this happened!

Lots and lots of fluids! I’m assuming since you were diagnosed, your doctor would have given you tamiflu if it was appropriate (it doesn’t work if you’ve already been sick for days). But fluids will help a lot. Otherwise just over the counter stuff for fevers and other symptoms. While you may not be 100%, you should totally be feeling much better by your wedding day! I would however start Lysol-ing everywhere you have been and everything you touch so it doesn’t spread.

Thanks for all the support and encouragement everyone! I did get tamiflu, when I went to urgent care this morning, I figured I was being super paranoid (it’s early in the season), but wasn’t going to take any chances with the wedding coming up... So I went while I was still in the Tamiflu window.

As as soon as they said I was positive, I asked if my FH could check in and get a prophylactic prescription, which they were happy to do. I’ve quarantined myself to the spare bedroom and have started to avoid him, wash hands like crazy before I touch anything outside this room... So I hope he doesn’t get it 🤞🏻.

I appreciate all the support and advice, I’m just thinking about all that I’d like to get done! My FH signed me up (not mad, he knows I love my cricut) to make shirts for his bachelor party. I made them last night, before I realized how sick I was, as I was making them is when I started to realize I really didn’t feel good.. So I’m glad to at least have those checked off my list, I would have felt bad letting all the guys down.
