Okay so I've always struggled with my acne. I'm 24 and I've been on the pill for about 5+ years. Around weeks 2-4 cystic pimples will appear or little red pimples that scab up immediately. I'm thinking about going to a derm and getting put on medication... Since the wedding isn't until 2015 I figure...

Okay so I've always struggled with my acne. I'm 24 and I've been on the pill for about 5+ years. Around weeks 2-4 cystic pimples will appear or little red pimples that scab up immediately. I'm thinking about going to a derm and getting put on medication... Since the wedding isn't until 2015 I figure I have enough time to become adjusted to the new medication. Does anyone have any experience with this? Have you guys gotten on anything prior to your wedding? I'm not sure if my body is just completely used to Yaz that it stopped helping with my acne or what?!

Thanks Amy! Smiley smile And Kate, I definitely agree with MarriedJ! - do some major research before agreeing to take any prescription oral meds, most notably Accutane. It can wreak havoc on your gut, taking years to repair and can also cause birth defects (in case you're planning a family soon). That is some toxic shit! A friend of mine who I play volleyball with suffers from acne, was on Accutane for over a year and while it helped her acne, her immune system started to break down, she was getting sick all the time (of course the Dr. prescribed more anti-biotics making her immune system even worse). Now she's repairing her body with probiotics and a more alkaline diet and she's starting to recover from it. I hate how Dr.'s are so quick to prescribe anti-biotics. The only time I will take them is if I have a serious bronchial infection which if you're not careful can lead to pneumonia. I have to be on my death bed before taking any! Smiley smile Colloidal silver works just as effectively in many cases as an anti-biotic. I digress...that's a whole 'nother thread Smiley smile

Acne issues are tricky to treat, because every skin is different.

I think that the most important thing is to keep a good cleansing routine.

I use milk cleanser and a skin toner daily, and an ultrasonic skin scrubber weekly.

The scrubber is an amazing device. At least the one I've got.

If you wanna check it out, I've got mine at www.silkytreat.com.

    Good luck Smiley smile
