Hey everyone! My fiancé and I have been thinking about getting married on our original date and then moving our reception a year later for a 1 year anniversary event. We saw this idea on the wedding wire and are thinking its the best decision for us. We have a lot of family members that already said won't be able to make it due to covid19 (bc they live out of the country) or do not want to come if we have our full 175 guest list bc of covid19. We thought about having a small ceremony on our original date (November 28, 2020) at our venue. I haven't reached out to my vendor about this particular scenario yet, but they are very accommodating and have not sent us anything about us not being able to have our wedding. I am thinking about seeing if we can offer our guests (close family and friends, about 50 people) champagn upon arrival, we have our ceremony how we normally would have, after we say our "I do's" I thought maybe our matron of honor and best man can do their speeches and everyone can do their toasts (bc they will hopefully have champagne), and then maybe if our vendor allows it.. an open bar/cocktail hour to socialize and mingle while we take pictures? I just wanted to pick everyone's brain and get some ideas before reaching out and doing anything official. If you were going to attend a ceremony only wedding, what would you expect or think was unique/special? Hopefully this made sense! And thank you in advance for your posts! I have been getting some great ideas and tons of positivity from these forums
You all rock!
P.S. If anyone has any fun ideas for the 1 year anniversary event let me know! We were planning on doing a wine box at our ceremony with letters from each other so I was thinking about incorporating that somehow. Thanks again!
