General concerns

*WARNING LONG POST*

Hi ladies! My goodness if it weren't for this site I would have gone crazy by now, so thankful to have an avenue to talk to other brides. As we all know we are in a bit of a crazy time right now, and we are all asking, "why me?" I would like some advice about my wedding and honeymoon.

1. I am supposed to be getting married 10.10.2020 my question is; we already have all but 2 vendors (flowers, and cake), I have my dress it needs small alterations. However, we of course don't have the suits ordered nor have I gotten my Bridesmaids dresses ( I am doing the mismatched they can pick their dress thing), no shoes, etc. We are having a small wedding (under 80 people) that will completely be outside. What do you ladies think is the likeliness it could still go on? Do you think I could reduce the guest list if need be, or is it even worth it to do it this year?

2. I know we will most likely not be able to go on our mexico honeymoon we have planned right after the wedding, is there anyone out there who is changing their beach honeymoon to something else in the US? I loved the idea of all inclusive like where we gonna stay, but I do not want to go to a beach if we stay in the US. Any ideas on where we could go that would be more private and relaxing? I know most likely a cabin somewhere, we have already been to Broken Bow, would love to find somewhere else. Our budget would be about $2400 we prefer to drive, would like to stay at least 5 days, and we are in Texas.

Why would you cancel your honeymoon and have it in the US? Because of COVID?

I really hope your wedding can happen. I think having a smaller wedding and outdoor venue definitely helps. We were planning a 60-80 person event outdoors this May and are being forced to cancel.

Depending on how important flowers and cake are, I might hold off on securing a vendor or at the very least avoid making huge deposits at this time, just in case you do need to reschedule. The more vendors you have the more likely it is you won't be able to find a date that works for all of them in the future, and you'll have to forfeit at least some deposits.

We have a deposit down on a trip to a resort in Riveria Maya, the balance is due August 1st, we have not paid anything on it because it is non refundable ( couldn't afford the deposit and the insurance at the same time, and they did not let me pay for the insurance later on). I am apart of a facebook group for the resort and the management is saying they are not sure if they will be able to open back again at all due to money loss. I know we could go somewhere else, I am just very concerned about Mexico getting really hit with it when we need to go, or other islands there are. Then there is the factor of I would hate to pay the balance and not be able to go, then not have money to go somewhere else.

Hello date twin! I don't know where you're located, but I spoke with my wedding planner yesterday and she said that she wouldn't consider rescheduling an October wedding at this point. We're having a small (about 65-person) wedding and our venue fits about 300, so we could easily socially distance if we need to. None of my vendors have pulled out and my venue said that unless there's a shelter in place order, we can get married there so we're planning to go ahead. We also have a honeymoon planned for October, which I think realistically won't happen. (It's Walt Disney World, so I think it's likely that won't be up and running at all this year.) But that's okay! We'll reschedule and go when we can. We've already rescheduled once and we got our flights, hotels, and tickets reimbursed so if need be, I'm sure it'll work out again.

My wedding is in September. I have no plans to postpone. My venue is large, max 600 people we have 148 invited. Obviously I know some won't be able to make it so probably be around 120ish is my guess. My venue told me that even if there are limits by September we should be ok because their max capacity is so large that people will be able to social distance. Also my caterer sent me a list of things that they are going to do such as servers wearing masks and gloves. I am not worried just trying to enjoy the planning process.

My wedding is 10/31/20 and not rescheduling unless the venue remained closed. However, I am in Ohio and we are announcing restaurants opening tomorrow. We are having a small wedding anyway under 100. As long as the state is allowing it and we meet the requirements we are going with it. If you want to come great if not then I understand too

Hi! With your wedding being in October, I think you might want to wait before cancelling it or postponing! I am set for July 17th and moving forward. We have under 50 people and I am hopeful and I pray so much on this, but I know it is all out of my hands. When it comes to the honeymoon I know that is a little tricky. We planned our honeymoon on a cruise and now have to wait for them to cancel to be able to get a refund. We don't want to just take a credit not knowing how long cruising will be banned. We are still hoping maybe by July we have more options of travel but that is something we will have to wait and see. I think you have time and I would hate for you to move, cancel or anything before it is necessary. Since it is smaller and outside I think that is a benefit for you, plus it is still 5 months away! Smiley smile

I would not cancel an October wedding. That is just before the usual increase of flu for the season, which when added to Covid, may create a need for more restrictions in winter. Hang on to what you have. Do not schedule any more small vendors. Bakeries and florists are easy to do on short notice, September is fine. And in mid August, evening or dressy day or cocktail wear all come I to stores for the new season, biggest stock time. Also, of small businesses likely to go under, small vendors tend to go first ( true in past recessions) along with events caterers.
