Gatlinburg Tennessee

Amber, on July 31, 2019 at 10:29 AM Posted in Honeymoon 1 3

MY fiance and I are big nature people. We took a trip last summer (2018) to Tennessee and both loved it. We live in South Texas and are wanting to go to Gatlinburg and stay in a cabin in the smokey Mountains. Any advice on when we should book our cabin? Fun things to do in Gatlinburg?

Here is a picture of my Fiance and I when we first went to the Smokey Mountains!

I think location really depends on if you want to be further into the mountains or closer to town. Our mini-moon cabin is booked about 30 minutes from town and that’s perfect for us. As far as things to do, definitely a moonshine tasting. They built the new SkyBridge so we’re really excited to give that a try. We’re also renting a Rzr to ride around the mountains. As far as places to eat, I’ve heard Cherokee Grill is good, but I haven’t tried it. Crockett’s 1875 is amazing for breakfast.

Thank you so much I will talk to my fiance about location. We are both pretty good about being away from town.

There are a ton of cabins in the Gatlinburg area-even some on Airbnb. If you want more of a nature-based hiking vacation I’d stay further from the Gatlinburg/Sevierville area.

There is a ton to do in the Smokies depending on what you’re looking to do! We LOVE whitewater rafting (Smoky Mountain Outdoors has been our go-to trip) and I’ve really enjoyed going horseback riding. Cade’s Cove is excellent and there’s more touristy shows and stuff in Sevierville. Going across the state line to Cherokee, NC is always fun and you can do a floating trip on the river there! If you like wine, Gatlinburg has quite a few wineries downtown (Tennessee Homemade Wine is awesome for fruit wines!). There’s also Dollywood in Pigeon Forge if you’re interested in theme parks!
