Garter toss

People who still do this typically toss a different garter (and have a "toss bouquet" - not the real one).

Once it is tossed , it’s theirs to keep. Which is why many garters come in sets: one to keep and one to toss. The same for the bouquet. Your florist will provide a smaller toss bouquet if you request it.




Years ago I was at a wedding where the bride tossed her actual bouquet and then demanded it back after which was very awkward.

I would suggest, if you plan on wearing your garter(s), to wear both of them, but one on each leg and then make sure you let it be known as to which one is supposed to be the one that gets tossed.

You can get a toss garter

We didn't do a garter toss at my wedding. I didn't feel comfortable with it so we just didn't do it. You don't have to do it if you don't want to and just keep the special one your aunt made.
