garter issues!

Private User, on June 19, 2014 at 1:07 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

Hello all! so i'm about to order my garter...I found this GORGEOUS one on etsy! it's all bling-y and beautiful!

https://www.etsy.com/listing/113669911/wedding-garter-set-ivory-or-lite-ivory?ref=related-6

however, my dress is somewhat tight in the thigh area, as you can see in the photo! it's the allure 8800...the underlay of the dress is satin, so I'm worried about the bling on the garter rubbing against the silk & catching on it all day long, and possibly ruining my dress!

i've looked all over for other garters, but I'm so in love with this one! i guess I could choose a satin one, but it wouldn't be the same! to you girls with slim fit dresses, what are you doing for a garter? has anyone experienced a blingy garter against a satin dress?

I think the lady I ordered mine from might be the same one you are looking at. Mine came yesterday and I am beyond thrilled with them. I have tulle so I had the same concerns about snagging. But the beadwork on mine are done so well, I really don't think it will be a problem. Mine came from HopesBridal.

Could you turn it so the bling is on the inside of your leg?

My dress is very different so I probably can't offer any actual advice--just wanted to say that I think the garter goes so well with your dress! It's beautiful!

Mine was very similar. Luckily, I have a very heavy underlay under my satin, so no issue with it interfering with the dress. The big one was too heavy so I wrapped it around my bouquet. The smaller one wouldn't stay up and was around my ankle by the end of the ceremony, so I just took it off after. We didn't do a garter toss, so it didn't matter.

Maybe you could put in on for prewedding pictures, take it off, and then put it back on for the garter toss (if you are doing one).

DisneyNut - I had looked at some from HopesBridal, this one's from a different shop though! And that's great to know, this lady has a lot of good reviews, so that gives me hope!

& Silan - I might be able to, but I feel like that might be uncomfortable while I'm sitting or dancing! I could try it though!

    & Thanks Jenn! Smiley smile

Ashleigh - that's interesting, I never thought about them being too heavy! And I totally could just wear it for pictures...I'm not doing a toss either! Good idea! Smiley smile

I have a similar dress and similar garter! I'm honestly not worried about it and mine is made really well. I think it'll be fine!

I'm ONLY putting mine on for the toss. Otherwise, I feel like it could slip off!
