Garter Belt

Nafisah, on April 25, 2018 at 12:29 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
So my dress is sort of fitted, but I want to wear a garter belt. Most of the belts I've seen come in lace, so I'm not sure what to do...Any advice?

I see what you're saying. You could try to find a very thin lace garter belt. Here's some on David's Bridal website: http://www.davidsbridal.com/accessories/garters#dbi

Thanks 🙂. My only concern is that the pattern will still show through my dress 🙁

Yeah, I was thinking that too! You could wear the garter belt closer to your knee rather than mid-thigh since from the look of your dress, that's where it starts to flare. I would suggest looking into a garter belt that looks this thin so it wouldn't be as noticeable through your dress.

This is on David's Bridal's website. I think something like this would work.

I can't see the picture🙁, but wearing it lower on my leg is a good idea. I don't know why I didn't think of that ! Thanks!

There is a difference between a garter and a garter belt. OP which one are you referring to?

If you want an actual belt, I think it is unlikely that there is one that won't be noticable through your dress not only because it is fitted but because of the type of fabric. I think you would need one that is not lace and fits very close to the body with no raised portions, but I'm not sure if one like that exists.

If you just want a garter, than I think Amythest is right and you would need to wear it closer to your knee.

I'm not wearing a garter belt for the same reason! I do not want it showing from under my dress. I would just skip it if I were you

Sorry if you can't see the picture. When you look at David's Bridal's garters, look for the one that has "Mrs." written in blue rhinestones. It's really thin material.

And you're very welcome! We're here to help! Smiley winking

Thanks for letting me know that! The peice I'm thinking of is just the garter. I don't think I need the belt.

Yea I'm definitely skipping the garter belt. I didn't realize the difference. I'll probably wear the garter closer to my knee. It also makes it easier to take off being that my dress is fitted. 😊

Suggestion that a friend of mine did: she didn’t wear the garter at all during the ceremony or most of the reception! She snuck away before the garter toss to put it on!

I am not doing a garter toss but wanted a garter for the ‘bridal’ look that night Smiley winking I won’t be wearing it all day either.

Its scary to know the garter could slip off or slowly slide down- how awkward! BUT with that being said I know there are plenty of brides to made it work the whole day!

Yea. I'm pretty crafty so I thought about making my own because my legs are not that big. Especially by my knee. But I'm still thinking about that. I'm not good at sneaking away lol, so I'm not sure if that would work. Thanks for the advice 😊
