Garter Belt Etiquette?

christy love, on October 31, 2009 at 11:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

I have been doing some searching online for a garter set and started thinking about how they are suppose to be worn the day/night of the wedding. Is there a particular leg (left vs. right)? Should the toss garter be worn lower? I have all these questions and Im glad I thought of it BEFORE the wedding Smiley smile Any thoughts or traditions I am unaware of?

Most of my brides wear their garter about mid-thigh on the leg of their choice.

I've had a few brides that have had a garter to wear and a garter to toss. Make sure your man knows which is which!

As far as traditions-it's the basic he has to get it then toss' it to the single guys! How he gets it-hands or mouth- is up to you guys!

For those of us who don't want a man ruffling our feathers in public, alot of brides, wear it right above the knee, or even on the calf(toss garter)...the garter you want him to find later, generally goes higher up on the thigh, because only he is supposed to see it Smiley winking

    Christy,

The bride/groom can set their own etiquette when removing the garter. What's a bit more complicated is when the garter is placed on the single lady who caught the bouquet. Sometimes children will catch the bouquet or garter. In such cases, it is suggested that the garter be placed on the single lady's wrist.
