GAH... Caterer won't respond to my emails *UPDATE*

Finally mrs.jkr, on October 27, 2014 at 10:14 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

I paid the $200 deposit on my food about a month ago, and my caterer gave me a signed receipt and told me that she would email me the contract.. and she hasn't yet, I hadn't checked my email in a while and realized I never got the contract. (I have all of the emails that we said what we were looking at doing and she has always been very responsive)

She's a food truck that's popular here, and my coworker had them as her rehearsal dinner and highly recommended them.... I'm not worried with them being a scam and having run off with my money.... but what's going on??? I'm planning on calling them on tomorrow or Wednesday to see what's up.

Mother hen me is worried that something happened to her or to her family, and I'm not so sure how to go about this.

You'll probably get more immediate info if you call, so try that and see how it works out.

No worries. Sometimes as a vendor, my email goes wacky; sometimes, I'm just human and as it's October and the height of wedding season, it just could slip my mind.

Send a friendly email reminding the caterer, and follow up a few days later with a phone call. And don't be worried; they are busy with other brides' weddings right now - just like you will be their first priority next June.

Best wishes to you! How fun to have a food truck, I love them! And by the way - very kind of you to be worrying about them and their family - I wish all clients were like you! <3

^^Thanks, I guess I'm just a little impatient... I recognize that they're human, but I'm just worried because it's my contract and all.

I had the same issue (well, haven't paid the deposit yet, because she was supposed to be sending me a contract). We had our tasting back in July and confirmed on the spot that we were using them. She told me to send her a finalized menu and then I would pay the $100 deposit and we would sign the contract. A few weeks later I emailed her our finalized menu. 2 months have gone by and I never heard anything back from her, even though I sent her 2 more emails (once a month, just saying that I'd like to put down the deposit.). I even called a left a message. Several weeks went by. I finally told my mom to call them yesterday and if they didn't respond to her message then we were going with someone else. My mom called and low and behold they actually answered the phone for her!! Everything is fine, she has our date, and is emailing a contract in a few days. She said we will get the deposit next month. Like the vendor above said, they are so so swamped with clients. I was just miffed because even though I know they are busy, it still would have been so nice to receive a quick email saying that she would get back to me soon. So I totally feel where you are coming from.

I hope you get in contact with her soon! Smiley smile

She emailed me today and let me know that her laptop got some sort of nasty virus and they just bought a new computer and are working on transferring what they can and rewriting other contracts.
