Fyi: sending your Stds and Invites

Kaitlin, on July 30, 2020 at 6:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

Unless what your mailing won't fit in the machines, they WILL still run everything through the sorting machines even if you hand cancel. We just sent our STDs and had them hand cancelled, but they still came marked up. So I researched further, and they send everything, no matter what, through the machines, unless it fits the guidelines for not going through the machines, in which case you have to pay extra postage for non-machinable stamps. Luckily, we didn't pay for the hand cancelling, but just an FYI so no one else is caught off guard.

I just paid way more on postage for my invitations to be sent out. Definitely a unforeseen cost.

Thank you for the info, I'll be sure to remember that when I send out my invites.

Ah this just happened to me last week! Sent out 49, 33 came back because they were square envelopes but we added the wax seal on the back. Each needed .15 stamps in addition to the ones I had but oh well, second round made it out! Definitely didn’t know this though!

Oh my goodness! That's what our invitation designer said too. To ask for hand canceling. I hope the extra postage for non machine stamps aren't ridiculous.

One of the reasons why I'm thinking of opting for paperless invitations and plan to send my invitations by email or text images and have my guests electronically fill their rsvps
