My Dad keeps saying “ why are you feeding people? You don’t need to feed people at an event.”
🤦🏼‍♀️

Oh my goodness Dad.
Feel free to have a giggle.

Lol My FH comes up with thee same kinds of comments sometimes! My favorite was “the ceremony is only going to be about twenty minutes, everyone can just stand.” Yeah, except that twenty minutes is from when the ceremony actually starts, what about when they arrive early so they don’t miss anything?! 🙄

Serving snacks or hors d'oeuvre s or full meals is way more common than it used to be. The majority of weddings dear old dad went to may not have fed the guests. It has never been a requirement, and in many areas and times, has been the most common thing.

OMG my fiance and my FFIL CANNOT graspe the idea of save the dates!! I am ordering my invitations and he's like, "wait, i thought we already sent invites!" And im like no...those are the STDs! And I explain the difference and his dad goes "thats stupid, just sent the invites and see who shows up" 🙄😂

STDs are defiantly a new thing. I plan events for my job at a senior living community and when I sent STDs for the annual awards luncheon they were all so confused by them. I must have had to explain the concept at least 150 times.

It must be new because of the longer engagement periods and more travel required then before.

My dad thought my full wedding should cost $3,000. My husband was the same way about save the dates lol.

Some people REALLY do not understand what save the dates are. When we sent ours, one of my cousins and his wife (who are in their 30's so it couldn't have been their first one) RSVP'd, "no," and sent a gift.
When we sent our change the date magnets, my aunt and uncle knew what a save the date was, but they told my mom that it was a really cool coaster! Even though our original save the date magnet had been on their fridge for months!

Haha this! My parents totally told me: get a hotel as a venue because it's cheap, ours was only $1000! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I'm like have you seen catering prices.

My FFIL treats family functions pretty informally. My partner has like 60 cousins I'm pretty sure, and one of the cousins invited the aunts and uncles but didn't appear to invite all the cousins (completely understand).
We found out when we saw the save the date on FFILs fridge, and causally mentioned like "oh, that's why she didn't talk to us about the wedding at Thanksgiving". FFIL goes - well y'all are coming too, you'll be our +2s. 🤦🏻‍♀️
... sir, no. Just no.I had a serious 1:1 before planning our list (before we had to cut due to Covid) that he needed to get the rest of the family on the same page about invites. 😂✌️

I actually created a thread On Here back when I was first engaged, because my father really wanted to send out engagement announcements, like it was 1955.

    Parents are adorable.
