Fun Ways to Ask Ring Bearer?

Pancakes, on October 2, 2014 at 4:47 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

What are the ways you asked someone to be your ring bearer? My fiance’s now 2.5-year old nephew will be ours. I was thinking of asking while we are there for Christmas (they are out of the state). Though I don’t think we would give him that ring bearer book on Amazon because we won’t have a flower girl and I know it mentions that. Not sure if it mentions a church, but we are getting married at a party center. So what are some ways we can ask him?

I got a box from Michael's, drew their initials on top, and put a ring pop inside. I also printed off a "certificate" like thing from weddingchicks.com that asked them (my two nephews) to be our official ring bearers.

Truthfully, they didn't care. They were excited for the candy. Both of them I think are too young (1&3) to really understand.

(I also did the same for my flower girls, my 2&4 yo nieces. Again, they really didn't understand.)

If they're too young to understand what it is they're doing I don't really see the point of "asking" them and giving some type of gift they won't remember or appreciate.

Obviously I'm not actually "asking" him, but we are asking his parents, my fiancés brother and SIL. But I would like to do something more than just ask, like giving a present for them all to open when we are there for Christmas. I'm not close to anyone at all in my family but I'm getting really close with FH's family, especially SIL. And the boy really likes me, too. At 1 years old he met me once and then kept asking about "Aunt Kathy". At 1.5 years old, before we left after Christmas, I was teaching him how to jump and almost every day after that for months he kept saying "Jump. Aunt Kathy. Higher. Again." Even when I wasn't there. So for his 2nd birthday we bought him a kid's trampoline and he uses it every day. So I really think he would remember if we did something. Last year at Christmas (1.5 years old) I was reading a storybook to him and he kept telling me what was on the next page before I even turned the page. So we are going to be addressing a gift for all 3 of them to open, but I would like to hear what others have done to get some ideas. Thank you.

I think the ring pop idea Monica suggested is cute, and something they will like because it's candy.

I think Monica's idea is great! At least his parents will understand and that way you get the point across and he just gets the candy out of it, and everyone wins!

We made ours try out for different positions. Groom. Flower girl. They thought ring bearer would be best so I made them walk around with my engagement ring on a pillow. Too cute
