Fun ways of asking your friends to be Bridesmaids!

Brittles47, on November 10, 2013 at 8:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 20

Hi Everyone!

I've been thinking of some fun ways to ask my closest girlfriends to be bridesmaids for my May 2015 wedding. I have been on Pinterest, Etsy, Google, and other sites and have found some adorable ideas (cookies, cakepops, cards, etc.)

Feel free to share your thoughts and ideas Smiley smile

I am asking mine in two weeks! I got them each a personalized hanger (this doubles as a great photo op on wedding day!) and am going to give them a card along with it that says something like "As I prepare for the day that I am to be a bride, it would mean the world to have you "HANGING" right there by my side." --Hanging for the hanger reference haha I know I'm silly. I invited them all over for lunch which I will be cooking and got the hangers on etsy for only $6 each! (they all have white bow, I just have yet to assemble them all)

Excuse the photo on top of the jacket, wire blended into carpet otherwise Smiley winking

I got these necklaces for my girls. the shop was super awesome and will customize the insert cards with whatever color and individual sayings you want. Couldn't be happier.

I gave each girl a box (purchased at AC Moore) with an individual serving of champagne, a bridesmaid shirt, a ring pop, a magnet with the picture of the two of us, and a note about what they meant to me and why I wanted them to be in the wedding.

I had them overnighted chocolate covered strawberries with little notes. One girl is allergic to strawberries so she got gourmet truffles instead.

I asked mine this weekend! Smiley smile I made them a crossword puzzle... Made it on a card. It had cute questions regarding my wedding day, and the last one said "will you be my______?" Then I wrote a message saying why I Would love for them To be my bridesmaids, gave them a ring pop, a cupcake and m&m's (FH and my Initials) they all loved it and thought it was really cute. And very inexpensive for me!

I plan on making little coin purses that look like the bridesmaid dresses that I want them to wear and then having a card and wish bone necklace inside that says, " I WISH you would be my bridesmaid!" Now, to make those stupid coin purses, lol.

I had a custom locket made for each girl with a picture of the two of us together and I wrote each one a letter. I put the lockets in a ring box and put them in the napkins at a restaurant. I gave each one her letter. The letters outlined all the reasons why they were special to me and how being their friend has changed my life. They were all in tears (which I knew was going to happen), so they picked up their napkins to dry their eyes and found the boxes. Inside the boxes were their lockets (which is also their day of jewelry) and a little card that said "Will you be my Bridesmaid/Maid of Honor?" They were so excited!

I made each a card that said, "such and such... will you please help me tie the knot..." on the front, then on the inside it said, "by doing my the honor of being my bridesmaid?" or "by giving me the pleasure of being my Matron of Honor?" I included a sterling silver knot ring inside each card.

My best friend and Matron of Honor had her wedding on Saturday and showed me her right hand. She had on her ring. It was so sweet!

    Everyone loved them!

I made a box for each girl involved with the wedding, my Maid, Matron, 2 Bridesmaids, Flower Girl and the Officiant (a close friend of mine & my FH). I used a gray photo box so the girls could use it again for storage. My wedding colors are lilac & gray so I continued the theme with a lilac pashmina (I even scented it with lilac essence), a small bottle of bubbly I wrapped in silvery tissue (since we are getting hitched in wine country, the FG got sparkling juice), a nail polish and a homemade bath bomb (since Lush didn't have anything close to working) that I scented with lilac as well as some glitter (I just love sparkle)! I included a note to each I crafted from some scrapbook paper I found at Michaels. The outside was very simple….I typed up "Will you be my…?" and printed it out on iridescent white paper, matted it with a coordinating papers and placed it over a white bow that secured the whole package. I ended up putting batting in the boxes I mailed to keep all the items secure!

PS I scrapbook so it was too much fun…If you're not the crafty type ask a friend that is to help.

I'm also helping make the guys invites. Its' really funny trying to get the FH to come up with a cohesive theme…so far it's all been booze, guns and…pocket watches??? I tried to explain this is something small and shouldn't go into Bachelor Party ideas…though I'm happy to help with those too lol!!!

I had my best friend take pictures of me holding signs, I had one for every word "Hey ____ will you be my bridesmaid?" Then I held my best friends name for the last picture and she was like "Wait me?!?!" and then started crying. Then I printed all of the pictures, and put them in books, and sent some out of state, and hand delivered the rest to each girls house, and they all cried and loved it! It was not only super affordable, but very thoughtful and personalized.
