Fun or Stupid - "Proposing" to Bridesmaids

I am only going to ask two people - my best friend and my first cousin - to be my BM's. They already knew from the get-go that I would like for them to be my BM's. I am only going to ask two people - my best friend and my first cousin - to be my BM's. They already knew from the get-go that I would like for them to be my BM's. They both live out of state now so I was not able to be a courteous bride and take them to lunch or anything to "formally" ask them. So, I was thinking of sending them a cutesy/funny card with a small gift. Do you think this is totally stupid and played out (we have all seen the pictures on Pinterest) or do you think it is fun/funny and appreciated?

They both live out of state and I might not get to see them before the wedding actually which is why I wanted to do something more "formal" for them.

I think this is mostly stupid.

Sending a cute card? Sure that's fine. Something simple and cute.

Presents/gifts? I think that is too much.

Making a big production of it like actually getting down on one knee? Just stupid.

Me? I just asked my bridesmaids in person, or over the phone if I couldn't be there in person. My best friend, she sent me a cute e-card asking if I'd be her bridesmaid. That was fun.

Anything that takes more then 5 minutes to make or plan is too much in my opinion. You are asking them to be there and support you on your wedding day... why does that need a big production?

I think I will just send them cards with some color ranges for their dresses. I am not making a big deal out of the BM thing anyway because it is not like they can be here to help me with anything or have showers or parties. It is more like I just want them to know their presence and standing by me will be appreciated.

I thought about it but it's just not me and is way too cheesy. I called each of them and asked on the phone and that was that!

I think it's stupid personally. All of my bridesmaids already knew they were bridesmaids and I didn't really need to tell them. It was just assumed since we were friends for so long. That's just me though. Some people like that kind of stuff.

I never liked the idea. Thought it was corny. I just called my MOH and asked her. I would have liked to have asked her in person, but she lives 200 miles away.

It is up to you. I did not call it a proposal but it was my way of asking my girls to be in my wedding. They all loved it and I had some tear up. I would not say stupid that is definitely not needed.

I made an 8x10 photo collage with me holding up the wooden letters to Will you be my bridesmaid? I gave them each a copy of bridesmaids and 27 dresses and then printed out a cute "Will you be my bridesmaid? Will you hold my hand on my wedding day? Will you..........." note. My girls thought it was sweet.

I gave a ring pop to one of my bridesmaids and fake proposed to her in a restaurant but it was more of a joke than anything. She already knew she was a BM. We're just silly.

FWIW, I asked my BMs on the phone (they all live far away).
