Fun exit when sparklers aren't allowed... Suggestions?

Laura, on September 15, 2014 at 12:10 AM Posted in Planning 0 18

My venue does not allow sparklers unfortunately, which is what we reallllyyyy wanted to do as our exit.

Any thoughts as to other fun exits? It is NYE so it will be after midnight when we leave, so there won't be much light. That is the trouble I am having when thinking of alternatives. I do like some of those ribbon wands, but again I don't know how it'll look in photos or how visible they will be.

Oh, and I suggested glow sticks to FH anndddd he shot that one down.

Your boy needs to get on board with the glowstick idea....its fun and cool!--the ribbon wands also look nice but make sure you do a light color.

Hahaha! I will have to try to convince him of it again... maybe the photos I showed him were just bad. I am glad I am not the only one that thinks it would be awesome!

I was thinking "glow sticks!" but then got to the end, so never mind... lol. Hmmm...

Put LED lights in balloons and have a balloon release?

I don't know how noisy it will be being NYE, but noise makers could be fun. I can't believe your FH doesn't like the glow stick idea! What if you found some sort of fiber optic wand sort of thing like this?

I was thinking fiber optic wands as well. I guess they come in all kinds of colors. Here's a link:

I love the fiber optic wand or LED balloon ideas the other ladies suggested. I think the wand is closer to sparklers though.

Omg! I am blown away by the good suggestions- love them all!

I am going to talk to FH about the glow sticks again. I think what he didn't like was that in pictures you get a bunch of blurry areas where people are swinging them and it looks off, so maybe he didn't get the full effect? But I never thought of the fiberoptic idea!

I actually DO have the LED lights for the balloons though (because he loved that). But I never thought of it as a send off!

Bubbles. Ribbon wands are great, too. Don't worry about the light. A good photographer will be able to capture your exit expertly, even after midnight. Doesn't matter that it's outdoors and not much light after midnight. That's what external flash units are for.

If you can't do sparklers, fire lanterns are definitely out, too. But I don't love them that much anyhow... Pretty dangerous stuff, especially when you think about how they end up in flight paths, etc. If your venue isn't down with sparklers, this is probably a good way to lose your deposit, so I wouldn't risk it with anything that is actually a-flame. I wouldn't have said I liked the glow sticks until I saw them at my brother's wedding - they were fun and people loved them and the photos are really cool. The guests lined up on the sidewalk outside the venue, and made a 'gauntlet' of them over their heads, it was like a light tunnel! It was spontaneous - no one told people to do it, but it was really cool Smiley smile

Yeah, do like glow in the dark ribbons. They may have those. That'd be dope.

Tons of glow in the dark stuff here: http://www.orientaltrading.com/toys,-games-and-novelties/glow-products-a1-550265-3-1.fltr?categoryFromSearch=true&rd=glow%20in%20the%20dark

Or you could have those paper lanterns to release in the air (like the movie Tangled) or you could have people light paper luminaries on the ground to light your pathway.

Our local dollar stores sell wands like this! Not sure if they're battery powered or like glow sticks, but they come in a lot of fun shapes and colors!

Ok. I think the FH is just going to have to accept that glow sticks are awesome, and it has to be done. I'm 85% there (I think) on convincing him!

I was at a wedding this past Saturday and they did bubbles. I'm really curious to see how they turned out in the photos. Personally, I think the glow sticks sound awesome.

Why not just make the ribbon wands out of glowsticks?

I had never seen ribbon wand out of glow sticks until now.. when I pinterested them. That might be a good option!

@Kalamityjen: We just came from a wedding that did bubbles as well, but because it was night time you couldn't really see them unless the flash was really bright Smiley sad
