Fun dessert alternatives?

Aspen, on June 13, 2020 at 8:29 PM Posted in Planning 0 17
Hey y’all! I was wondering if any of you had any cool ideas to alternatives to cake? At first I was thinking a small cutting cake and cupcakes, but now I’m wondering if my guests might enjoy something else more? What unique dessert worked for your wedding/what are you planning to do?? Thanks!! 😋🍫

You're only limited by your imagination and budget. You can serve any dessert under the sun as long as the bakery/caterer is willing and able. Pies/cobblers, cookies, fruit salads, mousses, donuts, flambe, ice cream, cheesecake, cinnamon rolls, etc

On top of our cake, we're having a full dessert table. It's going to be assorted cookies, brownies, lemon bars and macarons.

My cousin had gourmet donuts! I didn't even know that was a thing, but it was fantastic.

As everyone already said donuts are a big thing at weddings now. But you could also do a dessert bar with a variety of mini desserts so guests can enjoy multiple things. I think the later would be my preference as a guest.

Like PP said, there are loads of options!
Personally I’m not a fan of dessert tables because they generally tend to be run of the mill cakes and other edibles that you get at other events (imho). Although I do think that really well executed platters with assorted miniature desserts are a lovely touch depending on what you put on and the quality of the treats.
Donut walls are fun and very on trend! They’re also less messy depending on the types you order Smiley smile

I used to work weddings at a local nature center. One couple had a local well known ice cream food truck come, and everyone got to go outside and order whatever flavor they wanted, it was a hit! We are doing cupcakes. You could also have jars of classic candies, m &ms, gummy bears, junior mints, etc. Does your wedding have a theme you can tie your dessert too? Our wedding is at a state park and has a camping/ hiking feel, so one of our cupcakes is worms and dirt flavored, and we are thinking of baggies of trail homemade trail mix as our wedding favors.

Thank you to everyone who shared their ideas with me! After reading all your comments we decided to talk to our caterer about a build your own sundae bar and we’re all so excited about it! My FH and I will still do a small cutting cake, but I think especially since my wedding is in July, my guests will appreciate this fun and refreshing alternative! Thank you again ❤️

Thanks! Worms and dirt is my FH favorite treat, so he wanted a worms and dirt cupcake. One of the few decisions he has wanted to be involved in, and it was such a perfect fit!
