Fun activities at wedding

Brianna, on October 31, 2018 at 7:07 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 18
What are some fun things for guests who don’t dance to do? I’ve looked at photo booths and they are a little out of budget. I just don’t want the guests who don’t like to dance to be super bored and leave early!

We talked about grabbing a few decks of cards or board games for those who didn't want to dance

Will your venue be indoor or outdoor? Ours is at a state park and we picked up some yard games (horseshoes, yardzee, etc)

I found a photo booth on Groupon for $300 for 4 hours.

You could hire a caricature artist. It's a cheaper alternative to the photobooth. Also, you could provide some games (life size/jumbo jenga, life size connect four, I Spy, etc....). I'm not sure whether your venue has the space but a little entertainment area could be an alternative for guests that prefer not to dance.

We’re still working on it but we’ll have ping pong, corn hole, and a firepit

We’re setting up a table with board games, playing cards, coloring pages, etc. I’m thinking about renting a kareoke machine for a little later in the evening. I like the idea of a sketch artist, I may check out the cost and see if we can swing it.

I attended a wedding once shortly after I had both hips replaced and couldn’t dance. I sipped wine, listened to the music, watched others dance, and visited with family.

We are hiring our NFL team mascot to make an appearance. It wasn’t super pricey and will be great for pictures and fun for our guests.

They have those drink coasters you can buy online and leave at your table for guest to fill out while they are at their table. Usually it’s like date ideas or advice for the new couple.

We did a photobooth, which our guests all loved, even my 80 year old grandmother got in on the action! I know most are pretty pricey, but there are some reasonable ones out there... we found a photobooth company that was running a special and we got 3 hours for $300, which included unlimited prints and a flashdrive at the end of the night for me and my husband with everyone's photos, as well as digital access to the photos. It was great!

Another little thing we did, is we had 2 tables set-up, one with my parent's wedding album and one with my in-law's wedding album. I didn't think it would be like a big addition to the wedding, but we had a lot of guests sit down and look through both albums and many guests said they enjoyed being able to look through them; so that could be another alternative to dancing.

Of course there's also the popular option of having cornhole, giant jenga, and giant connect four. We had cornhole and jenga, which surprisingly, was not as much of a crowd pleaser as the photobooth and parent's wedding albums.

I've seen DIY photo booths for cheaper, you could look into that! Yard games are always fun too. I like the little "advice cards for the bride & groom" or other things for guests to fill out. You could see how much a caricature artist is?

What type of venue are you having? Our venue is a barn, so we are having outdoor games.

I am planning giant chess, lawn hooka lounge and several odd little extras like a date night box and a "Candi Shoppe". It's going to be a Mad Hatter tea so it has to be fun above all.

If I don't want to dance, I want to have some drinks and talk to people I know.

You can make a photo station, you don't need to necessarily rent a whole deal. Set aside a little corner of your venue, maybe you can drape some tulle or fake flowers on something. Shop for some cheap props (mustaches on a stick, or whatever). People would rather have their photos on their phones anyway, I think. My FBIL had one at a b-day party and it was a big hit. They have different kinds of props to fit any kind of theme.

Or, just, you know, food and alcohol. Adults will mingle and make conversation, especially if they know other people there.
