Full Service with Add ons?

Kathy, on January 8, 2025 at 10:30 AM Posted in Planning 1 3

Has anyone else hired a Full Service Wedding Planner and been expected to pay more for them to create the wedding website and design invitations? I already feel like I am doing a lot more than I should because of timelines. For example if I don't contact a certain vendor now they may not be available for the date. My planner is vivacious with good ideas but does not seem to be the best project manager. I am trying to work with her style but find this latest information a bit much.

So has anyone else paid their Full Service Wedding Planner MORE to design their website and invitations and if so how much more? Thanks for any advice and information.

Website design and custom invitation design require hours of computer work and should be added compensation. I would check your contract. My planner's contract listed included duties such as handling contracts and add-ons like travel costs from out of state. The contract also listed atypical duties for additional work such as $2 per chair set-up (cuz they don't do venue labor). Time is money for everyone. If you need these services, I suggest seeking out a web designer and stationary specialist, although there are many computer programs that can do both, some even free.

Thank you LM that is very helpful. The contract states "Curated full development, planning, and execution of wedding design and processes". Nothing specific to websites and I would not have even thought to ask about this at the onset. I agree time is money and just as I expect to be paid for my skills I am glad to reimburse another for theirs. I feel it should have been mentioned initially that some services are an add on and not come as a surprise. Learning more everyday!

    Thanks for responding Smiley smile

Thank you for replying. It was $1700 for whatever I needed designed. I think I was more surprised that there was even the possibilities of add-ons. I have brought up needing to clarify roles and responsibilities. She recently told me what I was looking for was a luxury wedding planner. Perhaps I am but I feel that distinction should have been offered during the initial interview instead of telling me everything is covered under Full planning and I do not have to be stressed over anything.
This is not my industry so everything is new to me.
The thing is she is a really nice, bubbly,& pleasant person. She has had her own company for five years. I want for her to do better. If I knew I was suppossed to be doing some things I would have started on them two months ago, not find out now. I am trying to figure out best way to work with her and not cause stress to myself. Several items take two requests to be sent to me or I have to ask what result of a conversation was. I do wonder if she has too many clients or just doesn't know to circle back and confirm things. I feel like if I don"t ask the right questions I will not know things. I did ask for her to cc me on people she was supposed to contact today so i hope she remembers to do that. I said I don't need to be in the conversation but I do need to know contact has been made so I can sleep better. I am sure much of this is my own prewedding anxiety so thanks so much for letting vent!
