Frustrated with ering sizing 😭

Nae, on June 11, 2019 at 7:19 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 22
I finally got my ering back after being sent back twice (zales) for resizing. The ring went from a 7 to a 6 to a 5 full... before sending it back I tried on the 5 and 5.5 over and over again just to make sure it felt right... the associate recommended the 5 full and stated that it’s just a little bigger than a standard 5. Now I feel like I should have gotten it bigger. I don’t know how it’s suppose to feel since I’ve never worn a proper fitting ring, I just assume that the ring should feel— right! I do have my monthly visitor and did not have it during the time of resizing so I don’t know if that is playing a role. Bottom line:
1) should I send it back?
2) should I wait until Aunt Flo is gone first to send it back?
3) does it look like I have sausage finger?
4) how should the ring fit? (I’m tired of zales, they are sweet there but I feel like they are really helpful)

thanks in advance 🤗

Not sure how to edit here but I meant to say that the zales associates aren’t very helpful... when it comes to explaining and understanding sizing.

That does look a little tight. Do you plan on having children? Your fingers will also swell during pregnancy.

Apparently weather makes a difference in your finger size too. Did they not have a sizing ring to try before you sent it to fitting? Also, did they have quarter sizes?

It looks like it might be a touch small, but the most important thing is that it's comfortable for you. If you go back in, I'd recommend trying it on with a wedding band - personally my engagement ring fits fine but sometimes feels a teensy bit loose, but when I tried it on with the wedding band it felt better, I guess because you're adding extra width to the ring.

It does look tight but I would wait until your period goes away and give it a couple of weeks. Your finger weight fluctuates a lot and I think you also need to get use to the ring. You’ll probably end up going up to 5.5 but don’t make the decision right away either. Also ask zales if they have the option to do it somewhere between 5 and 5.5 if the 5.5 is too big for you.

Darn! I wish I would have looked into those before having it’s sized down 2 sizes! This definitely is a big headache lol!

I also have to get my engagement ring resized. I'm a size 5 but I'm doing 5.5 my wedding band is a little wider so my engagement ring will sit higher on my finger. That was my concern.

I would check again after your period is over. Also, the weather does make a huge difference. Your ring will be a lot tighter when it's hot (because your body swells) than it is when it's cold. Last weekend, I could hardly get my ring on because it was so hot outside, but today, my office is cold so the ring is a little loose.

My ring came from Zales, and I got it resized there. It worked out wonderfully for me. Sorry it hasn't for you! I will say that I went to 2 different stores, and the first associate said I should get a 6 1/2. I went to another store closer to my house, and the manager said I was a 5 3/4. I got the 5 3/4, and my ring fits perfectly! I would definitely recommend getting fit by a manager because they have more experience. I would've gotten the wrong size if I went with the size the associate originally said.

Definitely spend a few days feeling it out. I never realized just how much my fingers change regularly til I had my ring. I think it’s sozed perfectly but some days it is loose and some days it is right (not so tight that it feels like it’s affecting my circulation [a sure sign of “too tight”] but more so just that its tough to pull off over my knuckle). Everyone’s fingers are shaped a little differently so it doesn’t always work, but a properly fitted ring should fit loose enough that you can slid it easily but tight enough that it doesn’t easily slip over the knuckle — should be a little resistance there!

It looks like a 5 1/4 would be perfect for you. Can you see if they can make it a quarter size larger?

I would not recommend those plastic things that go on the ring. I used it for a couple months while I got used to how a ring should feel and they add so much bulk. It’s better to just get it to the correct size!

They didn’t offer one at the time, but I should ha definitely asked. I’m going to head to the store and try that because it would have been very helpful. I believe that she did mention quarter sizes, but did not have it for me to try on

They did not give me a chance to try a 5 on in the store other that the tools used to measure my ring finger 😕 When I head back to Zales I am going to ask because that would have been a big help. I think the associate mentioned quarter sizes but didn’t not have it on the ring for me to try on.

I think I’m going to hold off and do the same thing when the time comes. My ring isn’t terribly tight and I noticed through the day it felt loose ( I work in an office that is constantly freezing).

I checked with them and they was told that they could but that I should wait it out since isn’t not uncomfortably tight. I’m honestly going to go to a real jeweler to be sized and get a second opinion 🤷🏽‍♀️

That’s the thing, it looks snug but but I can comfortably twist it around my finger and throughout the day while working (I’m in an office) it was sliding a little to the left and I had to adjust it. It’s kinda frustrating because it looks tight but doesn’t seem tight. I think I might just wait until the weather changes and see what happens. I feel like I’ve been through too much with this ring 🥺
