I’m soooo torn right now between a Friday and Saturday wedding. It’s a $1k savings between the fact that there is no food minimum and also the venue rental fee. I’m strict on staying to my budget so this will help me be in budget. However, if having a Friday wedding means that a significant number of people won’t go to the dinner/reception then it’s not worth it to me. Therefore, I’m wondering your experiences. Pros, cons?

Here's the guest list breakdown based on location (total guest list is around 185 now)Out of state: 13 (3 of them will not come no matter what date it is)
In state within 45 mins of venue: everybody else
In state 2 hours from venue: 4 (1 family)

I initially wanted a Saturday wedding but it was $3500 less for a Friday wedding! A Sunday was the same price as a Saturday! Crazy expensive. We went with a Friday wedding at 5pm and have had so many of our guests thanking us for getting married on Friday so they have the rest of the weekend to do what they want, especially our out of town guests!

I think Friday weddings are much better than Sunday weddings, unless it's following a holiday. I am having a Saturday wedding, it just works best for our family, but a Friday should work for you, the guests who really want to be there will absolutely make time for that. Best wishes to youSmiley heart

We are getting married on a Friday. It was definitely less expensive. We are having a mass at 4:00pm and the reception starts at 6:30pm. If people cannot make the ceremony they can come to the reception. The date also worked for us. If people want to be with you, they will be. Congratulations!!

Are you flexible on the month? Or a specific date in general? We are getting married May 2nd on a Saturday and paying Sunday pricing. Also if your engagement is short a lot of venues are looking to fill their open Saturdays and will definitely offer a discount. We initially looked into getting married in Sept 2019 (so a 6 month engagement) and a number of venues we saw had one random Saturday that they needed to fill so if you’re flexible you can get Friday pricing and maybe Sunday pricing on a Saturday. I would look into finding a deal before I did a Friday wedding.

That’s funny, Sunday in Chicago is the cheapest day to get married! Where are you from?

We're in Richmond, VA. I think Sundays were just as expensive as a Sat is because it's a country club and that's some sort of special members day...we are definitely not nembers
