Friday vs Saturday

I always pictured having a Saturday wedding, but then I saw the Friday prices and it would do wonders for my budget. I was concerned that some of my guests would reconsider coming because of work conflicts, but most of my guests are out of town family that will have to take off Thursday and Friday...

So, what do you guys think?

As a guest, I obviously prefer Saturday, but between Friday and Sunday, Friday gets my vote! I would rather take the whole Friday or half day off of work and get an early start to my weekend then have to leave a wedding early because I have work the next day! If your family like to hang out the day before, they will take those days off no matter what day you pick! Just give them plenty of notice of the date so they can plan accordingly, whether you pick Friday or Saturday!

Thank you for your input!! I am definitely leaning towards Friday and getting my invitations out in plenty of time for my out of town family.

For me, if I was in your situation, I'd pick a Sunday wedding. But in general, I would choose a Friday if I was a guest.

We did a Sunday which made the venue price 50% off the Saturday price. My guest never did complain about it.

I had a Sunday wedding because of the amount of money we saved (approximately $10,000 - $15,000). Our venue was about an hour to an hour and half from all of our guests who were local, we live in Southern California and traffic is always present. We even had a Sunday evening wedding, ceremony began at 6 and reception right after until 12. Those who had to fly to get to us came a few days before and stayed a day or two after and we knew that by 10 a big chunk of people who worked the next day would leave. It was a success, I sent out my save the dates about 6 months before and invites right after x-mas for our March 24th wedding. I had verbally given a heads up to my family and hubbys to his once we booked our venue because our event was going to be child free and we needed to give sufficient time. The truth is that my most important friends and family stayed until the venue closed and it was amazingly fun!!

I did a Friday evening wedding and it was fantastic! We had some family from out of the area but if they were able to take off the time they made it and did a whole weekend trip out of it.

I have a co-worker who used to work at a wedding venue and she said that the Friday wedding were the most fun because they weren't overly long but they lasted longer than a Saturday brunch wedding. I'm so glad we went with a Friday wedding.
