So I have not set my exact date for the wedding yet. I am looking into a Friday night wedding... for those of you who had/is going to have their wedding on a Friday night, how was the turn out as far as guests? Did most of them come? I am looking into a Friday night wedding... for those of you who had/is going to have their wedding on a Friday night, how was the turn out as far as guests? Did most of them come? A lot of people offer discounts for a Friday night wedding, that's why i'm looking into this. But my only concern is my wedding party and my guests not being able to get off work or what not. No one lives too far away so that's not really an issue. I just really want a big extravagant wedding with LOTS of people there! Smiley smile What do you all think?

I feel that those guests that really want to attend will attend regardless of the day. My wedding is on a Sunday evening.

You should totally go for a Friday, my FH and I are doing a Friday wedding just a few things to take into account. Send out Save the Dates as soon as you locked in a venue so that way your guests can have a heads up. Also be have to be careful for the time that you have the ceremony because traffic on a Friday here in Boston usually begins aound 3pm which is always insane and you wouldn't want everyone trapped in Rush hr. The benefits are totally worth it b/c we're saving 20% just for doing it on a Friday and on an off season. Goodluck!!

Go for it! Like some people mentioned before, most people involved will be taking Friday off anyway. I think it will work out GREAT! Good luck!

I perform Friday weddings all the time and the guests are always there. Some may come after work if they cannot get off, but most Friday night weddings do not start til 5:30-6:30pm so if you do your start time between there I do not see you having a problem with guest or the bridal party. At least we have not had a problem with it yet.

The general manager of Ledgemont Country Club recently told me to expect that 60% of reception attendees would also attend the ceremony on a Friday. I'm considering the same thing - a Friday night - but actually the day after Thanksgiving next year. I think this owuld increase the turnout since most people have the day after T-day off anyway, and all of our family and friends' families live locally.

My sister just had a Friday evening wedding about a month ago. Since the majority of both families lived in the local area, everyone seemed to make it there on time (ceremony started at 7pm). For everyone else who traveled far distances, they took the day off. But most people will take off for weddings. Have you thought about having a Sunday wedding during a holiday weekend with Monday off? (Ex. Labor Day Weekend).
