Fresh Flowers versus Silk Flowers?

chloe, on September 7, 2011 at 9:23 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 16

I want to have my wedding reception with silk flowers instead of fresh ones because they are so much cheaper. Has anyone ever seen bouquet with silk flowers? Do they look tacky?

I'm doing silk flowers, they're cheaper and you won't have to worry about what room temperature to store them at day of so they won't wilt/turn brown.

    Silk bouquets:

I'm using fake flowers, due to allergies, and it's generally cheaper. Plus, the bridesmaids can keep them for longer! Smiley laugh

I made mine from artificial flowers. They look pretty real, and I like not having to worry about anything going wrong with real ones.

And I get to use it this FRIDAY!! woot woot! Smiley smile

    Hello,

You get what you pay for in silk. Be picky and you can find good ones at a great price. Try www.afloral.com or maybe www.flowerfactory.com for good deals. If you find something you love, on-line, buy a very small quanity to see if you like the quality. The shipping is worth knowing.

Here'w some silks..flowers from Micheals, Hobby Lobby, Afloral.Com and other places. Best of luck!

In my opinion silk flowers are better choice then fresh flowers.......no doubt fresh flowers are very beautiful but you cant keep then forever with you as sweet memory of your wedding.....

One of my friend also used silk flowers in her wedding........they look really beautiful......and they are not only fits into your budgets but you can have them with whatever colour you want.....On the other hand fresh flowers depend upon the season and much costly then silk flowers........

I think it's all preference. I am not a big flower girl. H has been told time and time again not to waste money on flowers for me because I would rather he take the $100 he would spend on an arrangement at a florist and buy me something that is going to last longer than a few days. The same goes for our vow renewal next fall, no real flowers in sight. I will add that QUALITY silk can cost more than real flowers, but I am going super cheap because no one is really going to pay that much attention (I'd go higher quality if I was using them in my centerpieces, but I'm not, so that's not an issue), and I would rather spend that money on booze or food, something our guests WILL remember. I just ordered my flowers from the cheapest place around and they haven't come yet but when they do I plan to post a review on their quality, so stay tuned for that if you decide to go the silk route.

I am using silk bouquets for many reasons- including cost and they will last longer! I did go to bath and body works and buy a rose scent with sparkles in it that I will spray on a couple days before. They look real in pictures and such and you dont have to stress about picking htem up/cost/etc...

    i got mine on etsy

All of these bouquets are so pretty! I can't wait to get my flowers so I can start on mine!

That is another reason I decided to go silk -- I can make my bouquets and stuff way in advance. The only other option is to pay a florist or make yourself crazy trying to DIY who knows how many bouquets, bouts, corsages, etc. with real flowers the day before the wedding!

We create silk bouquets, and can create a complete 17 piece set for an average of $350. It of course depends on your flower choices and the size of the bouquets. We can use a real touch flower which is more life like which is a little more expensive or a less expensive silk. We will work within your budget. The best thing about silk bouquets is the cost, you get to keep them forever, or resell after the wedding. Let me know If I can answer any questions for you! Thanks, Kim
