Freeze dried vs fresh rose petals

I'm looking into petals for my aisle. I am not allowed to use silk since our ceremony will be outside at a golf course. I thought I wanted fresh petals, but freeze dried seem to be a bit cheaper. In the pictures they look like they might be crunchy. Has anyone used them? How were they?
