Free Standing Candles

Free Standing Candles 1

Our centerpieces are candles only for our long, rectangular tables, as shown in photo. The longer I sit with it, the more I worry about “open flame” surrounding almost 100 people, including a few small children. Should I invest in glass cylinders for more safety? I just really love the look of free-standing candles but I’m not sure what’s the best thing to do. Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

Are you positive the venue will allow you to have that many free standing real candles?

If you like the look of free standing, perhaps the battery powered ones less of a hazard.

Hi, yes - we are allowed. I have already bought hundreds of candles to use. Looking for alternatives to do with the real flame candles to consider, thank you Smiley smile

You will be hard pressed to find any venue anywhere that allows candles that are not fully enclosed in glass. That includes the entire flame as well. It’s a safety precaution that went into effect nationwide following the 2003 Rhode Island nightclub fire.

You can rent them from your florist or go to Dollar Tree. Never order glass online because it is heavy and fragile.

You'll definitely want glass around them. Like others mentioned, it is a big safety risk. Also the wax would get on the linens/tables so if you are renting them you'll end up with a huge cleaning or replacement fee.

I would have the candles on guest tables or high traffic area enclosed, if there's some on sweetheart/head table those might be able to be open if you really want.

However I think glass cylinders will still look nice and no one would second guess that.

You can buy LED light up candles which look super realistic and do not pose any threat
