Freaking out about ceremony time

Tonya, on July 11, 2019 at 1:10 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17
Okay. So my wedding is in 10 days. And I’ve been really upset and freaking out about the wedding time that I had chosen for a while now but it’s just now starting to really get to me.

When we we booked our venue they said we would have the venue for the ceremony/reception for 4 and a half hours. With that, I wanted to start the wedding at 6, and end it at 1030... I’ve been a little upset about it because I felt like I would have been better off doing 4-830 or something along those lines. But, I have a toddler and 6 bridesmaids and we are decorating the venue ourselves so my mindset was “the more time we have to get ready, the better.” Now, I’m looking up wedding day itineraries to help me start planning for the day and every single one I’ve found the weddings are starting at like 2pm!!!!

Did I make a terrible mistake? It’s too late to fix it now but someone just give me some peace of mind please.

Girl.. your 10 days away. Your time is fine and you can't change it now anyways, just stick with it and i'm sure your wedding day will be nothing but amazing!

Weddings that start at 2 pm are usually just cake and punch in the church hall. If you're serving dinner, they are much later. The only question is whether you can do your decorating beforehand, or won't be able to start decorating until 6. If it's the latter, your wedding is going to be relatively short, but doable. You'd likely decorate from 6-7, start the ceremony at 7, then start the reception at 7:30. The reception would then run from 7:30 to 9:30 or 10, to allow time to clean up afterward.

If you can decorate before 6 and clean up after 10:30, the schedule will be even easier. You start the ceremony at 6, and the reception at 6:30, which allows people to eat dinner relatively early and allows you time for a four-hour reception.

Your time is fine. Some people want 2pm until 7 or 8 because people need 2-3 hours to drive home, or because they want kids there who would cause the family to leave by 7 or 8 no matter when it officially ended, to get kids home to bed. All manner of possible reasons you do not have. Your times are fine, for you. Stop worrying. Have a wonderful wedding .

No I think your time is pretty standard.
My ceremony was at 5 and my reception at 6 and ended at 1030p too. It's common

You're good. People are likely to party it up in that time frame.

I think you're fine! My wedding is starting at 3, dinner will start at 5, and reception will end at 9. I wish I could've started mine later, but our wedding is in central time and a lot of guests will be driving back to my hometown (2 1/2 hours away) in eastern time after the wedding so I just wanted them to not get home past midnight.

You're fine! My ceremony starts at 5pm and the reception ends at 10:30pm. That's a standard evening timeline where I'm at.

    You're fine!
My wedding is starting earlier because people are driving further and have smaller children they are taking with them, we also aren't party people and having a dry wedding therefore earlier wedding makes sense. If you're having dinner and partying then your timeframe is ideal!

Your time is more than fine given the hours you are allotted! Parties that end later are way more fun than a party over at 8:30. I think it's great timing for a summer wedding. Don't stress!

My ceremony is about 4:30, then we're shutting down the DJ about 10 or so. Transport bus is taking their last trip to bring everyone back to their cars about 11 so everyone can get back to their hotels and I can be (hopefully) in bed by midnight so I can get up and make the thank you brunch in the morning.

I had a 6pm Ceremony time followed by cocktail hour and dinner a 8pm dancing until 12pm. My dance floor was packed until they played the last song and out of my 98 attendees maybe 20 left by 1030 or so because they had to work the next day. Not only was my wedding on a Sunday but it also was kid free so I let me guests know right when we made these decisions. Out of our 101 invitees we had 98 show and about 75 stay until the very end. It's a know your crowd thing.

My wedding ceremony will be at 6pm also- I am loving the idea of spending time with my girls and my family the day of the wedding. We are also doing a first look and will be doing photos at the venue starting around 4.

In other words. I think your start time is perfect and you will really enjoy having plenty of time to get ready!!
