Fountainhead Closes Down 7/1/2018

Celines , on February 22, 2018 at 4:25 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 21

Has anyone else been put in the horrifying position of having to find a new venue after being notified that the Fountainhead in New Rochelle is closing down on July 1st 2018?? I received a call 2 days ago that my contract with them is now cancelled and I have to either change my wedding date and use the new venue they've found for me or find a new venue with only 9 months left until my wedding. Invitations have already been printed and deposits have been placed for DJ, photographer, church etc...anyone else pissed and running around trying to get a new venue in time?

I am so sorry that is happening, it must be horribly stressful.

Have you been able to look at the place they found for you? I would ask them to reimburse for your invites cause that is just crap!

    Good luck!

I haven't been able to go to the new site yet since I was on vacation when I received the call and won't be in the city until Sunday. Been trying to call and get new venues on the phone based on my memory and the venues I visited in the past...tis horrible. I just feel bad for any couple who had July, August or September booked they have it worse...

    Talk about a wedding nightmare.
I would reach out to them about reimbursing you for invites. Are they offering you your deposit back too?

You seem to be taking it rather well. If it were me this post would be in all caps and their coordinator would have blocked my number by now.

I hope you find another, suitable venue soon! My fingers are crossed for you!

They are giving me all the money back I deposited, I'm just trying to get the money lost for invitations as well. My fiance has also been the calm in this storm. I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and it's probably a good thing we can't be there anymore because there might've been a fire or catastrophe days before my wedding instead of months. Atleast I have time to try and fix it. Also thanks for the kind words everyone, it definitely helps.

Yes! My wedding date was set for September 7, 2018 at the The Fountainhead. I got the call Tuesday and literally sobbed at my work desk all day not knowing where to begin.
Luckily I pulled myself together and scrabbled to find my list of venues that I had previously looked at before booking The Fountainhead. My save the dates were just about to be send out over this weekend, thank god they weren’t!
Everything went to the trash- save the date, wedding invitations etc.....
I now have booked Greentree Country Club for September 8. They were so kind to me and helped me figure everything out, reassured me that my wedding day will be as beautiful as I envision it.
I’m still in shock and can not believe it. Now the waiting process for my money to be returned is making my anxiety crazy!

I'm so glad you got Green Tree, it's beautiful there. My future sister in law got married there 2 years ago in April and it was great. We're in the process of getting a contract signed there for November God willing. God luck girl!!!!

Oh my god! That place has been there forever! My dad had his Bar Mitzvah there! What's the other venue they want you to use?

Green tree is the first choice, if not we'll reach out to Westchester Manor and last resort is the Portuguese club

Not sure what your budget is, but have you looked at the CV Rich Mansion in White Plains? We looked there and friends of ours had their wedding there, which was very nice. We got married at The Garrison, but I doubt they'd have any availability for this year; we only got in because another couple cancelled their wedding and we just happened to call at the right time.

There's also the Surf Club and Glen Island Harbour Club.

That happened at a venue near me a few years ago. The venue got caught without proper permits, and shut down immediately in early June. All the couples got together and sued the venue. Might be something to look into if this causes a major financial burden.

That's great! Did they have any dates around the same time you were getting married?

All my vendors, thank god, were ok with the date and venue change. It just sucks, its like starting from scratch again.

My friend had this happen last year when the Italian Center in Stamford had a fire (someone put their clothes on the heater in the sauna to warm them up )
She had only put the Church on the STDs but had had to get new reception cards.

Good of luck with your search!

I booked the Greentree County club for my original wedding date! Larry was phenomenal and gave me a even better deal than the Fountainhead.

The Fountainhead is refusing to pay for the invitations I have to throw out but if I sign a contract saying I won't sue them in the future then they will give me my deposit back. They are so unprofessional.

Same here, it was such a shame to see everything get trashed. It’s horrible!

Y es Larry was amazing, he put me at ease with everything that was going on. Honestly, my fiancé loved Greentree over the Fountainhead. So if he’s happy I’m happy! 🤗

I believe the article said that they are offering to move to Glen Island which gets nothing but great reviews and it’s a beautiful site. I doubt you will be disappointed with the venue but I’m sorry to hear about the invites etc.
