Foundation for Acne

Natalie, on July 17, 2017 at 11:07 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 25

Hi y'all! I am doing my own makeup for my wedding (in 10 days!!!!!!!!). I have been on the search for a good foundation that will hide acne super well. I don't have HORRIBLE acne, but as a younger bride I still have some hormonal and now a bit of stress acne. I use a cheap drug store foundation just for daily use, it covers okay but doesn't last long (and it doesn't break me out in any way, it just doesn't last). Since my wedding is on one of the hottest days of the year, outside, in South Carolina, I am definitely looking for a well covering, long lasting foundation. Thank you in advance!!

Try chanel or Dior forever foundations. I'm using chanel now in this texas heat and it holds up allllll day. It covers EVERYTHING. I have tons of redness and a little bit of a break out

It's all about the color correction too! Color correct before your concealer and foundation and you may not even need to buy an expensive brand. I use drug store and it works perfectly fine when I use my primer and color corrector

When I was in a wedding we went and got samples of Estée Lauder double wear from a department store. Enough for a few days and it lasted all day.

I use Estée Lauder and it works great!!

I would go to a make up store like Ulta to get color matched and listen to their suggestions if you haven't already just to make sure you get the perfect one!

Firstly you are gonna want a primer to keep your foundation on and make it go on as smooth as possible. I suggest smash box or makeupforever smoothing. I like tarte Amazonian clay 12 hour foundation for acne full coverage. It's matte but you can add radiance with highlighters. I also like tarte shapetape concealer for blemishes. Make sure you also powder so that the oils don't break up your makeup. Nothing with flashback! Laura mercier powder is good but take pictures in different lighting to make sure nothing is astray. Last finish with a setting spray! Very important. Urban decays all nighter is my favorite.

You want to start with a color correcting primer I HIGHLY recommend SmashBox but it is pricey, you can go to Ulta and get the NYX brand, theirs is the photo finish color correcting primer. It's Cosmetics also has a really good Bye Bye Redness serum that just came out a few months ago and I swear by it.

Foundation you want to drop the money on a good foundation. I recommend either Urban Decay Up All Night or Kat Von D. I use both and they really are full coverage. You're going to want to use a setting powder and I recommend Kat Von D's Lock It setting powder. And then stop it off with a setting spray.

It's going to be pricey but worth it

I agree with Hannah, go see what the wonderful people of Sephora or Ulta have to offer. (I prefer sephora) I have always had a great experience with the help they offer. More importantly though, get on this asap! I highly recommend trying out whatever you want to use between now and your big day!

Use color correctors and a color correcting primer underneath for scarring. I recommend two foundations:

    - Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage with SPF

    - Urban Decay Naked Skin

Both are buildable foundations. Very smooth! They both have insane amounts of shades as well. I will say, all Kat Von D products I've used oxidized terribly on my skin and they do not have a huge selection of shades. Good luck!!!!

Is your reception inside? Sometimes with pictures if the flash is used you can get what's called "flashback" from foundations with SPF and some setting powders. Please do your research on flashback causes if you are having any parts of your wedding indoors.

Go to Ulta or Sephora and see if they can give you a free trial of some that they recommend, just let them know you need FULL coverage and long lasting!

    I personally use IT Cosmetics.

I use neutrogena foundation because it treats the acne while covering it. I've been using it for years and it's helped me a lot.

If you can find someone available I'd splurge for airbrush makeup. It is waterproof and covers VERY well.

I have the Kat Von D foundation and it's a full coverage foundation. Also make sure to use setting spray and primer to lock in your makeup for a long lasting look.

Do not use MAC foundation. I have the acne problem as well and some scarring. This foundation is dense and oily, which we don't need. My cousin is doing my makeup. I do use Tarte but I don't think it covers that well. Hope this helps.
