Oftentimes I see newbies complaining about how horrible WW folks are and that they are incredibly rude and not helpful. I felt completely the opposite of this but even more so after today.

Today I posted a question about distance between ceremony and reception sites. I got lots of opinions and helpful advice and the answer to my problems came from Sarah L. She told me about a ceremony site I didn't know about that was across the street from my reception site. My wedding is a DW and I'm doing all my planning using online tools. It solved my problem and was incredibly helpful.

Tell me about a time that someone on Wedding Wire gave you advice/suggestions to a question or problem you were having that turned out to be game changer type helpful to you in your wedding planning or life.

I posted a question about when to send in bridal shower invites and that was helpful. I think ww forums are helpful but I can understand situations where the OP feels attacked or they’re not wanting to have heard the answers they did get. But that’s also a part of posting on a public forum - ya won’t know what answers you’ll get and some of them might not be what you hoped for

I think the people who get upset are the people who simply want validation and who don’t want actual advice. You’re not going to get placating answers here; we’re unbiased individuals who just want to make sure guests are treated as honored guests.

I find these forums to be super supportive and helpful - that's why I'm still here nearly 8 months after my wedding.

I've been on other sites (not naming names - besides, this was years ago) where the forums were truly awful and very much focused on the stereotypical wedding. You could find helpful and kind people there, but there was a tendency to label everything "drama" and "made up" - so when you had a problem, there wasn't any support.

While planning my wedding, I ended up having to cut off my mother - and this led to the rest of my family cutting me off. Instead of judgment or condemnation, many here rallied around me, expressed empathy, and reminded me that my health, and the health of DH, came first - mental and physical.

We have no problems being blunt or speaking the truth, here, but the community is also centered on support of the real human behind the screen. And I think that makes the difference.
