Formality of mob & mog Dress

If our groomsmen will be in tuxes and the bridesmaids in full length dresses, do the moms need to wear full length dresses? On the one hand, I would like everyone to be dressed at the same level of formality but on the other hand, both moms have stated that they would feel most comfortable in knee length dresses.

Will they look out of place standing next to the wedding party? FWIW, my dad will be wearing a tux.....not sure of FIL's feelings on tux vs suit. Do they need to match as well?

    I’m not sure what context your mom would even be standing next to the wedding party! Generally family pics and wedding party pics are separate. My mom’s dress was a little below the knee and it was perfect

    Your parents will never be standing next to the wedding party so I wouldn’t worry about that aspect. Generally parents match the formality but if they are uncomfortable I wouldn’t push it.

    When one of my cousin's got married, her bridal party wore all the same length dresses but her mom and our grandma wore full length dresses. The groomsmen and her FIL and her dad wore a suit, our grandpa wore black jeans and a button up shirt.

    It seems appropriate for them to wear full length dresses if it's a formal/black tie wedding. But I don't think knee length is a bad thing depending on the dress.
