Formal gown to elope?

Since my post from last night about eloping, my FH & I are really considering it. My question is for anyone who has eloped or known someone who did: Did you wear a formal floor length wedding gown?

Or what are suggestions if we had a small, intimate, 25 guest ceremony with close friends & family.. Formal gown or short cocktail dress?

    Maybe a more casual floor length gown? BHLDN has some really nice ones that are more casual but still very bridal.

    We are doing a planned elopement on the beach. We have no guests & I am still wearing a semi-formal gown, birdcage, bouquet, the works. We will have a reception with family 3 months later, in August, & I am wearing a 2nd more of a reception style dress. I am taking advantage of all opportunities Smiley smile

    It's my wedding day, & I want to look like a Bride. We choose to do what was important to us, I didn't want any regrets.

    I wanted to add that I shopped a lot of the high end designers bridesmaid dresses. I got an $800 Monique Lhuillier BM gown, which was perfect for our occasion. I added a sash & bam Smiley winking

    Beautiful dress! Where are you eloping too? Its probably not appropriate for a beach wedding but I would wear it anyway! Just because you are eloping doesnt mean you cant have everything you want! Go for it!

    My suggestion is to do what you want and what will make you happy. I wore a LBD.

    I like all of these suggestions!! I'm not sure where we will have our ceremony. Maybe a garden style. That dress is gorgeous!! I think I will def get a formal own no matter what.. I want to feel like a bride!

    Anything is appropriate for a beach wedding! Here in South Florida $30k gowns are worn on the beach, train & all!

    I've seen brides wear a gormal length gown and others wear jeans.
