forgot to Tip!!

Leah, on April 7, 2018 at 9:46 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11
I am so embarrassed...my wedding was yesterday and I was so caught up in the moment with everything and the whole day that I forgot to tip all of my vendors! I know I should have assigned that to someone else but I didn't and here we are. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get them their cash? Would it be weird to send a check with their thank you cards?

I would definitely send a check with their thank you cards! Nothing wrong with that. Maybe make a joke on the card like "meant to give this to you at the wedding. Crazy day!"

Mmm... A check wouldn't be a terrible idea if they did such a great job that you're stressing over it this way.

I think that’s what I’m going to do anyway. I’m not going to worry about tipping on my wedding day but I want to reward great service (after we’ve verified the quality of their work)

I don't think anyone would be offended by receiving a check in their thank you note! Go for it!

I'm actually debating not tipping on the day of and sending it in their thank you notes anyways. No big deal.

I don’t think it’s a big deal. I’m not planning on tipping day of anyway. Like PP said, I want to make sure I’m giving a tip that’s earned. If I set a certain amount and they went above and beyond then I may want to give more, and (hopefully not) but it could very well go the other way and I would want to lessen the amount of a tip. I will send the check in a thank you card after the wedding.

No big deal. I think determining the amount of the tip is best left until after a service is performed anyhow. There was a thread just the other day from a bride who wished she would have waited as she would have reduced the tip for her DJ.

I don't think it's a big deal not to tip your vendors. You paid them in full, I assume? Most wedding vendors don't need to be tipped in my opinion. I will write positive social media reviews.

I chose to handle my tips this way. Waiting until after the event allows you to think about the service you received and tip accordingly.

Okay thanks ladies! I'm glad I'm not the only bride ever to not tip her vendors right there. Smiley laugh

First off congrats on your wedding! Agree with a lot of PP but I will just add for anyone who’s planning to do this intentionally in the future that there are some people that if you want to tip it should be at the venue. Ie waitstaff, 2nd photographer, planner assistant - essentially anyone who may have been a hired hand by a business and not actually part of the business itself. My planner mentioned you don’t need to tip anyone who owns the business unless they went above and beyond, but the hired hands just get the hourly wage so a tip for them is nice.
Just something to think about for any future brides.
