Forgot to add meal selection :)

Holly, on February 28, 2020 at 2:24 PM Posted in Planning 1 10

Hi all!

I am having a moment right now. I just realized that I completely forgot to add a meal selection area on the RSVP cards-my reception is a plated meal. I don't think it's a huge deal since I haven't gotten my invitations out however, they are completely done. I could probably call everyone and ask what their preference is since I've still got some time. Has anyone else forgotten this?

Also, does anyone have an example of what theirs looked like with the actual meal selection area on it?

I feel like a ding-dong but I am enjoying this time since I am sure I will miss it once it's over!

Thank you so much Smiley smile

I would just suggest adding in an additional meal selection card with the RSVP. You could set it up something like this:

MEAL SELECTION - Please return with your RSVP card.

    Mr._______________

    __ Chicken __ Steak __ Fish

    Mrs.______________

    __ Chicken __ Steak __ Fish

We are having a buffet dinner so I didn't have to worry about this. I saw some really cute stickers on etsy that people could use for their meal preference, maybe you could do something creative with those?

It might be difficult to contact everyone on your guest list individually depending on how many people you're inviting.

Hmmm... I wonder if you could find some sort of meal selection editable template on Etsy.com that you could print off and enclose with your invitations? That may be an easy fix. Otherwise, are you having a wedding website? I am not even including RSVP cards with my invitations because I am asking everyone to RSVP electronically on our website, and they can enter their meal selections on the website while RSVPing. I know some people prefer physical RSVP cards, but I chose the electronic option because I find it easier and much less expensive.

    Good luck! Smiley smile

Thank you for the suggestion! One thing I forgot to mention was my RSVP cards are detachable and I've already stamped them. Our guest list is right at 47 people right now, and most of them are families with adolescent children. We know everyone we are inviting on a personal level so if i needed to call, it would be NBD. Thank you again! I will definitely look into those stickers!

I am definitely interested in the stickers! No, I don't have a website and don't plan to create one. It's a small, straightforward shindig so I personally felt like that would be too much. Thank you for the suggestions!!

I think if you don’t have a website and you don’t want to add an additional card, then your only option is to call people after they rsvp yes. 47 people won’t be that bad. Probably 20 something calls assuming most are couples and families. Just stay on top of it and call as soon as you get the rsvp and keep good track of it! Good luck!

You could do a duel plated entree? That is what we are doing. Then selections aren't necessary.

You can just print out cards with the choices on it and include them with your RSVP's in the invites. Also include the choices on your wedding website so people can indicate meal choice if they respond online.

It turns out that they don't require people to make selections ahead of time! They will put out menus for me with all the selections and take orders when everyone is seated! Thank you everyone so so much for all your input! I hoped that if I didn't treat it like a huge deal, it wouldn't turn into a huge deal Smiley winking
