Our April 4th wedding was cancelled and recently postponed until October 3rd. We are planning to elope at the courthouse on June 4th but guess what, our marriage license expires on May 26th. I called my county courthouse to ask if the county has anything in place to extend the expiration of marriage licenses OR to waive the fee for another license.
Bad news is No there is nothing in place to extend the expiration or waive the fee BUT the good news is the supervisor of the county clerk recorder’s office will WAIVE the fee of the civil marriage ceremony for us! How nice! So instead of paying $65 for another license AND the fee for civil marriage, we will only have to pay $65.
Our state and county is shutdown but I realized it means closed to the Public. They will still reply to phone calls snd emails and my county will still issue marriage licenses if submitted online and license will be mailed.
Double check what your county can do for you.
