For Catholic brides: Pre-cana questions

Eleanor, on April 28, 2018 at 9:25 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

Hi all,

FI and I are getting married in December and we haven't done Pre-Cana yet. I'm nervous and unsure of what to expect. My big worry is that for financial and other reasons, FI and I are moving in together next month . . . is this something that they're liable to ask about? If so, how is the best way to handle it?

Many thanks for any info!

It is usually a retreat or meeting with a sponsor couple to go over questions and topics like finances, intimacy, kids, etc.

I'm getting married in August and have pre-cana next Saturday! The priest asked us if we lived together, which we don't, because the church offers a different class for couples rho are already living together. If they ask be open and honest about moving in together and the reason you decided to.

It probably really depends on the church/priest. Ours encouraged everyone to not live together before marriage but there wasn’t anything more intense than that.

It depends on the parish. We finished our pre-cana classes about a month the ago. It was a class a week for eight weeks. They went over everything from finances to children. Our favorite class was when three other couples, all married for different amounts of time, came in and talked about actually being married. The main point was keeping God in your marriage.
My fiance and I live together for financial reasons. They did ask about it, and they gave us the usual warnings, but other than that, did not try to make us change our living situation, or make us feel guilty for our choices. Just be honest.
